POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced professional to establish and lead our Operations and Maintenance (O&M) team. This role requires a leader who can effectively develop teams, optimize processes, ensure customer satisfaction, and drive business growth within the O&M sector. This role is key to ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and performance of renewable energy assets after installation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Team Leadership and Development

  • Lead, coach, and inspire the O&M team to achieve excellence in their roles.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide training and professional development opportunities to enhance team skills & knowledge.
  • Directly manage both office and field personnel within the division across geographies.

Process Optimization

  • Develop and continuously improve O&M processes to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Implement best practices and leverage technology to streamline operations & reduce downtime.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and safety protocols.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with several company departments to build infrastructure for the division, including O&M platforms, accounting systems, pricing tools, proposal language, training, and field documentation.

Business Development 

  • Identify and pursue opportunities for business growth within the O&M sector, including expansions into new markets or service offerings.
  • Collaborate with the sales and marketing teams to develop strategies for acquiring new clients and retaining existing ones.
  • Lead the development of proposals, bids, and presentations for potential clients, ensuring alignment with company capabilities and objectives.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients, partners, and industry stakeholders to drive business growth.

Customer Service and Stakeholder Management

  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential clients, serving as the primary point of contact for O&M-related inquiries and escalations.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, vendors, and subcontractors
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project objectives and exceed customer expectations.

Installation Support

  • Ensure support for installation teams during commissioning or troubleshooting of a project.
  • Create and launch monitoring platforms for new customers and ensure handoffs are successful and operational. Customer education may be required. 

Financial Division Management

  • Establish and execute against financial metrics monitoring the health of the division
  • Develop sales targets and annual budgetary plans
  • Optimization of revenue delivery via prioritization of product mix (e.g. commercial proactive, residential reactive, warranty work, etc.) 

Performance Monitoring and Reporting

  • Establish performance metrics and KPIs to track the operational performance of energy assets.
  • Monitor system performance, analyze data, and identify opportunities for optimization.
  • Prepare regular reports and presentations for management and stakeholders.
  • Establish forecast for capacity, capability, and output of the O&M team.

Quality and Safety 

  • Promote a culture of quality and safety within the O&M team.
  • Provide feedback and establish best practices to preserve quality and reduce warranty issues
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits, and implement corrective actions as needed.

External Engagement

  • Main point of contact for A&R Solar in the Amicus Solar O&M Cooperative monthly calls, O&M related working groups and occasional conferences

REQUIREMENTS

  • 5 years of team management or division management experience with a history of developing high-performing teams.
  • 5 years experience or combination of formal education in business development, operations management, or strategic planning.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Salesforce and/or G-Suite technologies
  • Strong interpersonal skills, math skills, a team player, persuasive negotiator, positive and innovative thinker
  • Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.
  • Detail-oriented, well-organized, and independently competent

RECOMMENDED REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or related field: MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred
  • Solar experience or NABCEP certification
  • Deep electrical, renewable, battery, construction, and/or engineering background
