AAHI is Hiring a Research Associate II, Analytical Development Near Seattle, WA

Research Associate II, Analytical Development
Access to Advanced Health Institute is a Seattle-based nonprofit biotech institute that is undergoing a transformation to lead a global coalition to fight infectious disease and address health disparities and inequities worldwide. We think it’s unfair that where a person lives or how much money they make dictates their access to life-changing medicine. We’re looking for people who want to join us in increasing accessibility to tools that harness the immune system and allow a healthy life, free of illness and disease, regardless of geography or socio-economic status – from compassion and collaboration come change.
We will serve as a center for innovation and collaboration in vaccine and cancer immunotherapy research and development, early-phase GMP manufacturing, and training the next generation of scientists and manufacturing teams to achieve our mission. This is where the high-quality science of an academic research organization and the product-development capabilities of a biotech company meet.
Summary
The analytical development position is primarily responsible for supporting development of assays to test and characterize vaccines and vaccine components. This position will also be involved in the production and analysis of saRNA components of RNA vaccine candidates. This is an hourly, nonexempt position.
Responsibilities
  • Under the guidance of the senior scientist, develop, document, and report on analytical methods for product testing and development for both AAHI internal and external projects.
  • Generate SOPs for new analytics. These assays include, but are not limited to, spectroscopic, electrophoretic, and chromatographic techniques.
  • Provide documentation and reports for test method development activities.
  • Support pre-clinical RNA vaccine development through molecular biology techniques: cloning, cell bank generation, RNA transcription, DNA/RNA purification, gel electrophoresis.
  • Document and organize electronic and physical records of experiments and findings on AAHI networks and in designated lab notebooks.
  • Actively contribute to the development and implementation of project plans, strategies, team decisions, external presentations, and manuscript preparation.
  • Maintain, diagnose, and fix lab instrument issues and coordinate vendor repairs as required. Additionally, ensure lab footprint is clean and tidy.
  • Maintain inventory of laboratory supplies, organization and lab upkeep/cleaning.
  • This is not necessarily an all-inclusive list of job-related responsibilities, duties, skills, efforts, or requirements. While this is intended to be an accurate reflection of the current job, management reserves the right to revise the job or to require that other or different tasks be performed as assigned.
