To provide your facility a single point accountability for all Maintenance, Reliability and Facility activities. Enable site Operations to perform with best in class efficiencies in total compliance of all safety, company and regulatory requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (to include but not limited to)
Ensure an environment that is safe by reinforcing a “safety first” culture.
Lead all site Maintenance, Facility and Reliability activities
Utilize all resources (personnel & financial) to ensure Plant operates at maximum equipment utilization and efficiency
Tenaciously address all unplanned site downtime events in order to return site to “Safe, Reliable Operations” as soon as feasible. In addition, work actively to asses any failures, identify cause and deploy counter-measures to prevent recurrence.
Provide direct Supervision and develop all members of the Maintenance/Reliability function
Ensure equipment availability to meet defined production schedule.
Document all incident reports using AIRS ( AAK Incident Reporting System) as required (EHSS, Quality, Service, or other) - Utilize a factual based incident reporting format with an emphasis on establishing a clear Sequence of Events (SOE)
Create and establish controls to manage via AAK USA KPI’s for Maint/Facility activities to monitor and improve performance
Lead and develop predictive, preventative and reactive maintenance activities.
Manage site spares, stores, & critical spare program.
Manage and be the “keeper” of the facility Computerized Maintenance Management System( CMMS)
document all activities through this software; utilize tools to optimize effectiveness of department and interactions with internal customers (Production) and other functions (QA, etc.)
Site lead for utility system management - to include, but not limited to, Natural Gas/Cogen, Electrical, Water, Waste Water Systems, Cooling Systems, Ammonia Refrigeration, Industrial Gasses and Compressed Air.
Solid understanding of mechanical,electrical,automation troubleshooting.
Respond and address all required commercial utility equipment - Office/Admin HVAC, Restrooms/Plumbing, bldg. Electrical, Lighting
Ability to manage and coach others for high performance and high engagement; motivates, inspires, and engages others to excel and work towards the vision.
Demonstrated skill in promoting innovation initiave and improvement in line with AAK goals.
Ability to quickly learn technical aspects.
Effective problem solving and decision making skills aligned with the Discuss, Decide, Champion behavioral capability
Actively identify gaps in site Maintenance/Reliability systems and systematically work to close them
Utilizes Rapid Continuous Improvement (CI, or RCI) as a routine tool - Identify, prioritize and execute projects
Site knowledge leader on Equipment & Parts specification. Establish site criteria and/or Part/Equipment standards and manage site compliance to these standards.
As required write and issue all Standard Operating Procedures, Work Instructions or other controlled Documents related to department activities
Create Task Breakdowns, JHA/JSA, establish Best in Class (BiC) Ways of Work (WoW) and embed in systematic process throughout all activities in Maintenance/Reliability routine execution.
Work with EHSS Site Lead to create world class procedures around Construction Management and High Hazard Work Permitting - embed in site work, for all people working at the facility.
Coordinate directly with Shift Lead(s) to schedule & execute Maintenance activities - be it planned or unplanned.
Participate as a key member on site HAACP team
Schedule and Manage all pre-determined Plant shut-downs; Work directly with Supply Chain Lead and Production Manager
Ensure appropriate coverage for all needs within the boundary of the current CBA. Work assertively within CBA to develop a plan for coverage in the case of need.
Manage Maintenance/Facility budget for each given period - Manage Department budget within the established constraint.
As assigned, complete, assign, facilitate or otherwise coordinate the execution of routine site action item lists - be it EHSS, Quality/GMP, Housekeeping or otherwise.
As requested, participate in the development of new site policy, procedure or programs
As needed, manage CapEx Improvement projects - in total or in part.
Be prepared to serve as site Construction Manager for projects - including but not limited to site introduction, review of site rules training for contractors, full site Construction Safety Observation liaison for high risk construction operations
Attend all meetings and actively participate for collaborative delivery of AAK Site Strategy and Business Objectives.
Prepare to support Operations by having capability to back-fill site Production Manager for absences.
In all duties - exercise independent thought and judgement to make decisions consistent with company culture and philosophy.

Qualifications Core Knowledge – Firm understanding of Plant/Production Maintenance and Facility Operations. Key competencies around mechanical, electrical, Automation and Process Control Systems (will be the site lead for all).
Knowledge of managing Maintenance/Reliability activities in a Process/Plant based environment.
Strong knowledge of Process based industries and their unit operations.
If applicable for facility
  • Understands statistical weighing equipment associated with high speed packaging and filling.
  • Strong knowledge of Ammonia refrigeration systems .
  • Strong knowledge of automated palletizing systems along with associated conveying systems that support this type of equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of analog and digital metal detection system used in the packaging industry.
Knowledge of Vegetable Oil unit operations a plus.
Knowledge of Packaging operations a plus.
Experience with 24/7 Operations - willingness to adapt and/or have flexible established schedule
Resourcefulness - demonstrated ability to utilize resources to accomplish objectives.
Compliance - working knowledge of industry regulations - local, state, Federal - Environmental, Safety (OSHA), Quality/Food Safety; BRC
Microsoft Skills - familiarity and ability to utilize common MS Office suite - Excel, Word, PPT
Process Software - Familiarity and understanding of site Process Control and HMI Software.
Critical Thinking - Demonstrated ability to perform troubleshooting, cause finding and taking corrective actions to address system shutdowns in a high pressure environment.
Education/Experience: Degree Qualifies - preferably in Mechanical/Electrical/Chemical Engineering or related.
10 years progressive experience in a Manufacturing environment with at least 5 years directly leading Maintenance/Facility.
Working Conditions Position is a combination of office work and onsite facility working.
Some travel will be required but not more than 10% of schedule
Physical RequirementsAbility to communicate (verbal and written) with management and co-workers at all levels of the organization.
Regular use of a variety of measuring tools, a telephone, scanners, copiers, computers and e-mail for communication is essential.
Standing or sitting for extended periods is common.
Heavy lifting is required intermittently.
Exertion of up to 50 lbs. of force is occasionally required.
Good manual dexterity for the use of common office equipment such as computer terminals, calculator, copiers, and FAX machines or measuring tools is required.
Good math and reasoning ability is essential.
Ability to understand and utilize engineering drawings as well as standard reasoning ability for trouble assessment.
Mobility to maneuver throughout the plant, stairs, tanks, catwalks and other motor skills are necessary for accessing areas under your responsibility.
Good visual and hearing are helpful in the observation of conditions as frequent walk through of the plant are vital in assessing the actual conditions as well as status of improvements.
