TheSupervisors are responsible for overseeing employees/teams, performing trainingfor new employees, managing time, communicating with team and customers,performing safety checks and overseeing production rates and product quality.The positions may also be asked to jump in the lines for each specific team andhelp out when needed. The position also attends several meetings and mustalways be communicating and problem solving to keep the product runningsmoothly and on time.
Essential Duties andResponsibilities (to include but not limited to) Thisposition will provide a daily Pumping and Blending Schedule for the entireproduction facility each day.
Maintain clear and accurate communication with Customer Service reps as to theshipment releases added to the schedule each day and be able to give directionwhen such releases need to be pushed off due to lack of capacity.
Communicate directly with production and others on plant priorities, equipmentstatus and availability and discuss special directions or requirements for thecoming day(s).
Production Schedule updates with focus on upcoming highlights and feedback onquality issues and/ or reprocessing as necessary.
Maintain good and clear communication with QC lab for latest results andimpacts on future plans.
Plan/ schedule product runs that meet all specifications and maximize use ofplant equipment.
Set production rate to challenge operators and management to keep.
Use production indicators that will help guide the Production Manager andMaintenance Manager to greater operating effectiveness.
Use provided computer based scheduling programs to minimize redundant tasks.
Look to improve production rate/ quality or efficiency.
Provide written instructions for railcar loading operations.
Assign operators to load railcars and offload trucks.
Provide written instructions for packaging operations in the warehouse.
Communicate directions for product movements with HTT.
Coordinate arrival and removal of containers.
Implement Production Planning system and transform to a single planner model.
Improve efficiency in operations to maximize throughput and minimize cost.
Find and execute on CI cost saving ideas.
Assist with assigning and supervising Logistics Operators and temporary laborfor maintaining sanitation in assigned spaces.
Develop and analyze opportunities to grow the business.
Inform the Logistics Manager of any schedule delays that risk impacting on-timedelivery to customer
Safety & Environmental Performance Lead the safety effort by personal example.
Support full plant wide compliance with safety rules to further our goal of 0accidents and encouragement of reporting and correcting near misses.
Report any injury immediately to Director of Operations, Packaging Manager andSafety Manager upon occurrence
Support maintenance/contractors during major construction or anytimemaintenance contractors are on site.
Identify high-risk safety/ productivity issues and propose solutions.
Adhere to SOPs and other work procedures as required to assure product qualityand consistency to our customers.
Provide employees with the essential tools, materials and information requiredfor packaging production.
Enforce GMP compliance.
Report safety hazards and issues immediately
Develop ideas and process improvements to create a safer work environment.
Work Requirements Oversee production personnel, processes and productivity
Estimate product status and completion of schedule
Oversee and estimate staffing needs to maintain required productivity
Ensure employees are trained properly in order to provide customers a superiorproduct
Educate and motivate personnel about safety: Safety is the number one jobpriority
Provide practical solutions to operations/ controls problems.
Develop team environment in department and resolve all packing issues incoordination with quality department
Train personnel in continuous improvement fundamentals
Participate in Food Safety Committee, Safety Committee, Audits and othercompany performance activities
Monitor the pack schedule for product changes.
Learn new processes and procedures
Record hourly rates packed production; also track down time
Work on the computer and on the phone
Attend meetings, work with customers and delegate tasks
Walk around own area to help check product quality, employee's efficiency andoverall running each line/area
Keep track of timecards and overtime
Cost Control Contribute to the effort in controlling costs and minimizing waste in productand shrinkage
Maintain production requirements with the minimum amount of staffing
Minimize overtime through effective staffing and employee cross training
Promptly communicate Incident Reports to all shifts
Assure proper incident and accident reporting
Communicate with all personnel regarding opportunities for improvement
Working Conditions Manufacturing plant: Consists of exposure to loud noises, heat, sparks,potential ammonia exposure, potential burns from steam lines, and potentialslick floors from oil and smoke may occur.Protective safety equipment isrequired including appropriate clothing, shoes, gloves and safety glasses asneeded.Activities include extended periods of standing and extensivework with chilled flakers, votator equipment, conveyor systems, steam lines,air lines and palletizers.
Physical Requirements Must have ability to communicate (verbal and written) with management and otherco-workers with the regular use of a variety of measuring tools, the telephoneand e-mail for communication that is essential for daily functions.
Standing or sitting for extended periods is common.
Hearing and vision within normal ranges is important for conversations, toreceive ordinary information.
Heavy lifting is required intermittently.Exertion of up to 50 lbs. of forceoccasionally is required.
Good manual dexterity for the use of common office equipment such as computerterminals, calculator, copiers, and measuring tools is required daily.
Climbing ladders and stairs
Operation of heavy equipment (i.e. forklifts, man-lifts)
A fair amount of walking is involved
Reading weight scales
Using propane torches
Using steam and air lines
Running flake and shortening palletizers
Able to fill or take laborer positions if needed.

Qualifications Preferred college degree in a manufacturing discipline(Manufacturing Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology,
Industrial Technologyand Management, Manufacturing Engineering Technology, etc.)
3-5 years in a manufacturing environment in the food industry
Experience with computers including Microsoft Office Suite,Lotus Notes, etc.
Ability to lead and motivate others.
Ability to manage the training of employees in plantactivities
Have a mechanical aptitude.
Must have good math and reasoning skills.
Able to apply general mathematical calculations, analysis ofvariance and other basic standard equations as required.
