Leads all regulatory health policy initiatives and activities on behalf of the Association and the Academy. Provides staff support to AAOS (American Association of Orthopaedic Surgeons) activities in physician payment policy development and review including representation in medical specialty society meetings as well as other stakeholder meetings. Participates in communication and liaison with federal regulatory agencies. Manages AAOS involvement in the AMA/Specialty Society Relative Value Update Committee (RUC) the AMA (American Medical Association) CPT Editorial Process and the American College of Surgeons Surgical Quality Alliance (SQA). Supervises staff liaison activities to AAOS Coding, Coverage & Reimbursement Committee, Health Care Systems Committee, and supports advocacy for Clinical Quality and Value and Registry teams. Works closely with BOS (Board of Specialty), BOC (Board of Councilors) and orthopaedic specialty societies to analyze and advise on regulatory and health policy issues of strategic importance. Advises government relations on legislative and regulatory matters related to physician payment policy and health policy. Helps produce and manage content for AAOS educational products and programs on public and private health insurance payment issues, member communication and advocacy.

This hybrid position is based in Washington, DC and is open to applicants who are able to commute weekly to this office.
