AARPs Legal Counsel for the Elderly (LCE) champions the dignity and rights of vulnerable Washington, D.C. seniors 60-plus, providing free legal and social work services to those in need empowering, defending, protecting, and helping thousands of clients each year in many areas of civil law.
The Pickering Law Fellow conducts legal research and writes legal memoranda, interviews clients, evaluates their legal problems, and determines appropriate assistance required. The Fellow works primarily with attorneys in the Veterans Advocacy Project (VAP), assisting with direct representation of veterans and spouses of veterans regarding veterans, other VA-related benefits, public benefits, and outreach events. The Fellow will also assist with operations at our VAP community clinics as directed. The fellowship will last from Fall 2024 through Spring 2025.

Compensation and Benefits
The hourly rate is $21. Internships are non-exempt positions and are not eligible for employee benefits.
Flexible Work Arrangement (FWA)
AARP observes Mondays and Fridays as telecommuting workdays, except for essential functions. Remote work and telecommuting can only be done within the United States and its territories.
