The Opportunity
Our location in Minneapolis, MN currently has an opportunity for a Manager, Medical Affairs & Grants in the Vascular division.
Abbott Vascular provides innovative, minimally invasive, and cost-effective products for treatment of vascular disease.
The Manager, Medical Affairs & Grants manages the extended Grants team associates, system administrator & project manager to assure timely and compliant processing of educational and charitable grants, donations and fellowship applications, for six Medical Device Business Units, including Cardiac Rhythm Management, Electrophysiology, Heart Failure, Structural Heart, Vascular, and Neuromodulation. Role fulfills both strategic and tactical/operational functions, reporting to the Director of US Vascular Medical Affairs. Manages a $10.5 million budget across six business units.
What You'll Work On
  • Contributes to grants strategy in conjunction with CMOs of Cardiac Rhythm Management, Electrophysiology, Heart Failure, Structural Heart, Vascular and Neuromodulation.
  • Management and coordination of grants team activities and grant process operations
  • Collaborates with Medical Affairs, Medical Education, Clinical, OEC, and the Commercial senior leadership teams to ensure timely and compliant processing of grants, donation and fellowships across six business unit.
  • Internal consultancy to six business unit CMOs and senior leadership teams to adhere to compliance guardrails.
  • Liaison with external stakeholders, including KOLs, charitable organizations, and professional societies.
  • Assists Director of Vascular Medical Affairs in the translation of programs established by senior leadership into
  • Operational plans and schedules.
  • Ensures compliance to internal and external guiding policies and procedures, including Grants Standard
  • Operating Procedure, US Ethics and Compliance Policy and Procedures, ACCME, and AdvaMed.
  • Manages audit process, including the collection of data and implementation of risk mitigation plans.
  • Identifies opportunities to streamline work processes, creates and implements change plans.
  • Management of budgets associated with role, including approval of LOAs across six business units and grants team expense reports.
  • Collaborate with financial analysts from each business unit to ensure LBE benchmarks are met - plan, financial analysis, budgeting, disbursement, and reconciliation.
  • Prepare senior leadership quarterly reviews for six business units.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU'LL BRING
Required Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in related field or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • 8 years of experience in grants managment.
  • Strategy and diplomacy are required to engage with Directors, senior leaders, governing/regulatory bodies, professional societies and medical professionals.
  • Highly developed understanding of and application of business concepts, procedures and practices within the regulated framework of the Grant environment.
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration with quality/compliance, OEC, Medical Affairs, Clinical, Medical Education, and Commercial teams.
  • Critical and solutions focused problem solving skills.
  • Adaptability to change.
  • Knowledge of AdvaMed Guidelines
  • Knowledge of State and Federal reporting requirements
  • Knowledge and expertise of: Blackbaud - Grantmaking Database
  • Microsoft Office

The base pay for this position is
$95,000.00 - $190,000.00
In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
