POSITION: Associate Counselor

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Associate Counselor works in one of our residential group homes, and is a key player in ensuring that the people we support are given every opportunity to live independent lives. Previous experience providing direct care support to people with developmental disabilities is preferred, but can be substituted for other relevant work or personal experience.

The Associate Counselor is responsible for hands-on caretaking, possibly including toileting, bathing, and/or feeding; for ensuring the general wellbeing of the residents in the house; for administering medications; for facilitating a warm, family environment conducive to the residents to learn, at their own rate, skills leading to greater personal independence and self esteem. Under the direction of the Residential Manager, the Associate Counselor must be flexible and able to adapt to many situations, and able to complete a myriad of other duties related to successful operation of a home.

Key Areas of Responsibilities:

1. To assure daily residents' daily care.
2. To ensure the good health and safety of the residents.
3. To complete those domestic duties associated with the home's operation.
4. To promote positive community relations.
5. To promote appropriate communication among staff, families, residents, and others.
6. To participate in professional development activities and other training requirements.

SCHEDULED WORK TIMES: The position of Associate Counselor is part time or full time. We have a variety of residential shifts available, including early morning shifts (Mon-Fri 6:30 AM-8:30 AM), weekend shifts (Sat and/or Sun), evening shifts, and overnight positions. 

Starting Pay Rate: $17.25/hour

$18.25-$18.50/hour when employee obtains DDS Med Certification (training provided through Abilis)

Qualifications

• A valid driver's license
• A high school diploma or GED
• A sense of empathy and compassion for the people we support
