ABM US is Hiring an Accounting Manager, Record to Report Near Sugar, TX

The ABM Enterprise Service Center is looking for a self-motivated individual who wants to grow and take their career to the next level. This person will be given an opportunity to have hands-on experience in the day-to-day transactional accounting function of ABM within a shared service environment. 

This position is responsible for managing and providing strategic program direction to the Revenue Accounting team within the Enterprise Service Center (ESC). This position leads a team in their interactions with Operations, Accounting Managers, and internal stakeholders; ensures that software and other tools are available and functional to efficiently and effectively process accounting transactions; ensures that process flows and accountabilities are clearly defined and followed to maintain strong internal controls and safeguard the assets of ABM Industries; manages a team that oversees the processing of accounting records; develops standardized qualifications and job descriptions for Record-to-Report personnel; ensures that appropriate accounting related training is provided; ensures that appropriate benchmarks are in place to monitor performance of personnel and systems; and oversees process improvement efforts.

Reporting to the Director of ESC Accounting, this role will provide accounting support and assistance to the FP&A professionals and their operational partners to ensure the monthly accounting transactions are properly recorded by the ABM Enterprise Service Center.

Job Responsibilities: 

  1. Establish and maintain culture of service. This culture includes developing and maintaining relationships with the field operations teams, collections team counterparts in the ESC and stakeholders and partners in Procurement, FP&A, IT, HR, Internal Audit, and others. Ensure there is two-way communication and a feedback loop to optimize process outcomes
  2. Develop, implement, and maintain systems, and policies and procedures, to ensure adherence to company guidelines
  3. Proven ability to lead and manage Record-to-Report process and system implementations (e.g., ERP, Reporting)
  4. Lead, mentor, coordinate, and support Accounting team including skill development, career path development, performance evaluations (including setting goals and objectives), and partner with Human Resources to manage team composition
  5. Ensure the team is engaged in delivering service based on established principles, including metrics. Routinely measure and evaluate measurements with the team and operational stakeholders to ensure process outcomes are optimal. Take corrective action when needed to adjust processes for defects
  6. Establish robust communication plans and maintain open lines of communication with counterparts, clients, and stakeholders, including routine insights on pre-planned cadences
  7. Independently lead month-end close efforts for Record-to-Report processes including assisting with month-end closing and accruals, account reconciliations; ensure individual and team deadlines and deliverables are met accurately and timely
  8. Work with the relevant workstream teams to drive and manage process improvements, in the Record-to-Report process, specifically related to revenue
  9. Responsible for all system reporting creation and analysis needed for Record-to-Report processes
  10. Support all integration efforts of Record-to-Report Transformation with ABM Transformation and Strategy team
  11. Lead ADP Payroll posting and analytical review 
  12. Work closely with the Accounting Organization leadership to see that Record-to-Report process flows and accountabilities are clearly defined
  13. Knowledgeable of end-to-end processing requirements for processing monthly journal entries, account reconciliations and analysis
  14. Prepare/review the period ending reports (FA, QES, YES) to the external reporting team
  15. Work closely with other ESC Accounting managers to develop efficient, consistent, and scalable accounting processes 
  16. Ensure practices are in place to prepare and maintain schedules and supporting documentation needed for management, internal and external reporting, external auditors, and SOX requirements
  17. Review and approve monthly account reconciliations and journal entries as required
  18. Work with internal and external auditors to meet ABM’s compliance requirements
  19. Support the integration of business acquisitions and operational reorganizations as required
  20. Support International locations to ensure consistent practices
  21. Establish clear business and financial goals for self and group
  22. Drive results and issues to closure
  23. High level of attention to detail required in managing analytical tasks
  24. A strong desire to succeed and be a part of a team
  25. Ability to drive process improvements and develop systematic processes

Minimum Requirements: 

  1. 10 years of Record-to-Report experience within a Shared Services Environment; with 8 years of leadership experience (3 years of complete General Ledger responsibility, 5 years of direct management of accounting staff)
  2. Ability to be in person, at the ESC (60-70%), enabling teaming, resource development, and collaboration
  3. 5 years ADP payroll experience
  4. Experience in working with ERP, process, and reporting tools (e.g., JDE/Oracle experience, CoStar, T-Recs, ARCS, ServiceNow, EPM, Insight, Hyperion, PowerBI)
  5. Excellent Excel and PowerPoint skills.
  6. Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related discipline. Advanced accounting degree or CPA preferred
  7. Ability to analyze, solve problems, and adapt to changing organizational and operational needs
  8. Ability to work collaboratively with all departments and workstreams
  9. Comfortable with being hands-on with both strategic and tactical initiatives
  10. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interface comfortably at all levels both internally and externally
  11. Excellent time management and organizational skills, detail orientation with solid analytical, troubleshooting, and decision-making skills
  12. Must be able to proactively identify what needs to be done, present suggestions and recommendations to leadership, then take action
  13. Ability to nurture and work in fast paced, team-oriented environment; strong emphasis on team building through training, coaching, and mentoring
  14. Ability to communicate financial information and priorities in a way that is accessible and connected to the company's mission and core values
  15. Flexible; ability to adapt to changing priorities and multiple tasks
