Abrams Airborne Manufacturing Inc is Hiring a CNC Programming, Lathe Near Tucson, AZ

Job SummaryUnder minimal supervision, provide programs for CNC lathe machining centers to enable the efficient and economic manufacture of parts as required to meet production plans and quality standards.
Duties/Responsibilities
  • Read and interpret prints and solid models.
  • Use CAD/CAM packages to generate CNC code from solid models.
  • Reduce setup times and machining through process improvements.
  • Deploy and properly use inserts, fixtures and tooling when developing programs.
  • Design and develop jigs and fixtures, record information and generate setup sheets.
  • Provide feedback and input into process improvement within the department.
  • Write programs for new products ensuring compliance with all quality policies, solid
models, prints, specifications, regulations and instructions.
  • Provide estimates of machining times and costs to quoting.
  • Ensure input and output department files are completed in a timely manner.
  • Communicate thoughts and ideas, both verbally and in writing, to co-workers and
management.
  • Communicate honestly, professionally and respectfully with others and demonstrate
effective listening skills.
  • Recommend improvements to reduce production costs while maintaining high quality
standards.
  • Program, organize, log, update and maintain new and existing part files to the latest rev. level.
  • Provide all departments with the latest applicable product drawings and specifications.
  • Generate and maintain the method of manufacturing (MOM) and the Bill of Material (BOM) in the ERP system.
  • Collaborate with Customer Service to release a shop traveler which identifies all processes and sub-processes to be carried out during manufacturing.
  • Provide the Production and Quality departments with all required instructions relating to proper handling, storage, packaging, preservation and delivery of product.
Other Duties And Responsibilities
  • Work with machine shop management (supervisors) to prioritize workload in the machines according to assigned jobs.

Required Skills/Abilities
  • Experience with Solid Works is desired.
  • Familiarity with FANUC controls is a plus.
  • Must have knowledge of CNC tooling.
  • Must be able to read and interpret technical drawings.
  • Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing is required.
  • Must be able to perform basic mathematic computations such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to apply to practical situations. Shop math, geometry and trigonometry is a plus.
  • Must be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Must be able to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Must be familiar with quality standards (ISO9001/AS9100).
  • Must be able to effectively communicate and understand job instructions both verbally and written.
  • Must be able to interpret and translate instructions to other employees in a professional and respectful manner.
  • Must be able to troubleshoot and advise solutions regarding machining, work holding solutions and speeds and feeds.
  • Must be able to read, understand and follow department and company policies.
  • Must be able to communicate positively and effectively with employees in other departments.
  • Must be able to read, understand and follow written directions.
  • Familiar with excel and word
Education And Experience
  • Must have at least 5-10 years of machining experience.
  • Must have at least 2-5 years' experience in programming and/or training in CAD/CAM software such as, Featurecam or Esprit with current knowledge of 3D surfacing and 4th axis.
  • Lathe programming ' mori seiki and haas lathe programming
  • Live tooling and spindle transfers a plus
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • CNC mill programming a plus
Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods of sitting/standing at a desk and working on a computer
