Director, People & ExperienceVancouver, WA (Onsite, Hybrid)
The Director, People and Experience (P&E) leads the development and implementation of HR deliverables in line with Absci and HR's mission and vision. The director leads the team in delivering HR services, policies, and activities, as well as partnering with the business. With the team, the Director supports Absci's business and cultural transformation. This role is responsible for optimally connecting business to the workforce and individual needs and opportunities while running the P&E department with data-driven, efficient execution and measurable outcomes.
Responsibilities: P&E Leadership
  • Report to Chief People Officer and partner with the P&E leadership team to identify and drive initiatives in line with P&E's mission and vision and business plan, connect to the broader organization's mission, vision and values; motivate people to commit to these and to doing extraordinary things to achieve business goals.
  • Lead exceptional organizational and talent development; drive initiatives that build a culture of diversity, equality, inclusion and belonging
  • Support management and partner with leadership on all matters related to People and Organization issues.
  • Identify and manage stakeholders up to top management level, doing what matters most to support their business opportunities and challenges and to ensure any HR initiatives support their people and organizational needs.
  • Serve as a role model for Absci culture and values, exemplary in building trust and demonstrating integrity.
Core HR - Direct responsibilities
  • With the objective to run P&E like a business: 1. Ensure budget management, 2. Drive efficiencies and drive optimized processes, 3. Measure results and share insights with leadership and management .
  • Design and recommend program and practice changes by assessing current impact, (cost) effectiveness, competitiveness, and industry practice.
  • Lead performance and compensation planning and execution.
  • Support current P&E team members as needed, by contributing to:
    • HRIS strategy and corresponding suite of HRIS tools and applications.
    • Benefits strategy
    • Talent acquisition strategy
    • Engagement and retention strategy
Employee Relations
  • Make recommendations and implement strategies for maintaining a positive work environment.
  • Serve as business partner to the Innovation Leadership Team and Innovation groups in particular.
  • Ensure a sustainable employee relations solution and as needed drive employee relations investigations
Compliance
  • Ensure up-to-date, well-communicated policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Ensure compliance with global, federal, state and local laws in the field of HR
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 10 years experience in human resources with breadth and depth HR experience and specialization in multiple HR disciplines
  • Experience with labor and employment law in multiple jurisdictions
  • Experience of planning, managing and organizing resources within short/medium timescales within the overall policy framework.
  • Ability to work onsite at Vancouver, WA office for minimally 25% of the time
Preferred (but not required):
  • Experience in biotech, pharma, life sciences or tech companies
  • Experience leading teams
  • HR degree or certification
The salary range for this position is $180,000- $220,000/year. Competitive equity package applies. Pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
