Opportunity

Abt Associates seeks bright, talented, and intellectually curious students to participate in our summer Abternship. As a paid HR Intern in the COO – HR Operations department, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on industry experience while being immersed into Abt’s organizational culture. Interns will learn from some of the top experts in their respective fields while experiencing events/programs that are useful in any professional setting. Our programs will consist of a robust and structured curriculum that encompasses professional development opportunities, networking events, and a mentorship program. Interns can be remote, hybrid, or in person and can be located anywhere in the United States.

The Summer Internship Program at Abt Associates is 10 weeks, beginning June 3, 2024, through August 9, 2024. Interns must be able to work full time (40 hours per week) for the duration of the program. 

Key Roles and Responsibilities 

  • Candidate must participate in programming/seminars/meetings scheduled throughout the Abternship.
  • Develop self-service tools and data visualizations leveraging HR data and analytics to facilitate team members' interaction and comprehension.
  • Deploy and provide training on generated reports and dashboards through the company's HRIS system and other technological platforms.
  • Design intuitive dashboards, adhering to best practices for creating data visualizations that translate intricate data into actionable insights.
  • Manage ad hoc analysis requests, including the preparation and presentation of insights derived from HR data. Collaborate with the HR team to address business stakeholder inquiries and support their strategic objectives.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of action plans based on EDIA-related assessments, including Bell Seal, DisabilityIN, and CEI.
  • Assist in coordinating Employee Network Groups (ENGs) maturity planning, encompassing KPI tracking, report generation, and status updates.

  • Candidate is currently enrolled in a graduate level degree program.
  • Ideal candidates will have academic or work experience in either or a combination of Human Resource Management, Data Analytics, liberal arts, or social sciences with an interest in Equity.
  • An agile learner with solid problem-solving and system-thinking skills
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal; ability to tailor communications depending on the audience and tell a story using the data.
  • Willingness to learn how to synthesize datasets and utilize data visualization tools to build a compelling story.
  • Has completed at least two years of college coursework.
  • Is available to work full-time throughout the 10-week internship.
  • Is eligible to work in the United States with no sponsorship.

This position offers an anticipated hourly rate of:

Graduate student: $23.00 per hour
