The Academy of Notre Dame, Tyngsboro, a Catholic private school, sponsored by the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur, is based on the educational philosophy of their foundress, St. Julie Billiart. We are committed to community-building, diversity, global justice, and service to those in need.The High School Chemistry Teacher will be responsible for providing learning experiences and supervision of assigned students in a nurturing, supportive and positive classroom climate. He/she will develop in each student the skills, attitudes, and knowledge to meet and exceed Massachusetts State Standards in Mathematics and Science, following the approved curricula and directives of the Academy. Achieving academic excellence requires that the High School Chemistry Teacher work collaboratively with the school administration, faculty, staff, and parents.Responsibilities:Plan and implement effective chemistry lessons for students using a variety of instructional strategies with the use of technology, variety of materials, media, and community resources to support instructional programs.Monitor the pacing of instruction and budget class time efficiently by providing clear directions, outlining expectations, and effectively bringing to closure instructional experiences.Conduct laboratory experiments and demonstrations to facilitate hands-on learning experiences.Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of child growth and development, effective instructional strategies, classroom management, learning assessment and diagnosis, and research related to learning.Differentiate learning experiences based on varying student needs.Assess and evaluate student performance through tests, quizzes, assignments, labs, and projects.Utilize various media tools for word processing, data management, informational retrieval, visual and audio presentations, and telecommunications.Establish high standards and expectations for all students for academic performance and responsibility for behavior.Assist with the preparation, monitoring, and following of Individualized Education Plans for applicable students.Exhibit a personality that demonstrates enthusiasm and interpersonal skills to relate well with students, staff, administration, parents and the community.Stay updated with the latest developments in chemistry education and incorporate innovative teaching strategies into the classroom.Demonstrate integrity, good moral character, and initiative.Incorporate NDA’s Mission and Hallmarks into everyday curriculumComplete curriculum MappingAdditional responsibilities as outlined in the NDA Faculty & Staff Handbook, as well as required in the annual employment agreement.
