DescriptionPOSITION PURPOSEFollows and implements our innovative instruction in the classroom that is specifically designed to teach young children with learning differences.
Must be a certified teacher in Elementary Special Education or Early Childhood. Kindergarten experience Preferred.
Essential Functions & Basic Duties
  • Identifies specific goals for each child; writes and implements their individual program plan.
  • Has knowledge of early child development and can target appropriate milestones.
  • Implements curriculum activities and organizes for effective classroom instruction.
  • Uses effective classroom management and behavior strategies in the classroom.
  • Uses age appropriate materials and has a developmentally appropriate classroom environment.
  • Engineers the classroom to support students with language and learning delays.
  • Uses specific tools and technology to aid in delayed and non-verbal communication
  • Develops rapport with children and provides a nurturing and secure environment for them to learn.
  • Supervises and coaches the teacher assistant in the classroom effectively and performs the annual performance reviews.
  • Functions as the team leader for each student in the classroom.
  • Can demonstrate differentiated learning.
  • Keeps Due process and paperwork timelines.
  • Analyses and uses data to guide instruction and communicate student successes and needs.
  • Communicates in a professional manner with parents.
  • Ensures student safety at all times by following established procedures and using common sense both on and off campus.
  • Teaches with a multisensory approach.
  • Implements learning strategies
  • Develops a knowledge base of language and phonological development.
  • Follows all HIPPA guidelines to insure confidentiality.
  • Acts as a mandatory reporter by reporting evidence of child abuse to the Department of Human Services.
  • Collaborates with a variety of professionals, therapists, paraprofessionals and family members effectively.
  • Administers developmental testing including scoring, interpretation and writing reports.
  • Lift infants, toddlers, and small children, reach over cribs, on and off of a changing table, out of specialized equipment or carry a child.
  • Be alert, observant and able to be independently in charge of small children.
  • May perform other related or non-related duties, as assigned.

PHYSICAL DEMANDSWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk or hear. The employee is regularly required to walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

RequirementsQUALIFICATIONSEducation/Certification
  • A Bachelor’s degree or greater in Early Childhood Education, Early Childhood Special Education or Special Education, or related field WITH a current teaching license.
Experience/Knowledge Required
  • Previous experience teaching young students preferred.

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret accumulated student data and academic testing results.

Travel Requirements
  • Minimal travel MAY be required for this position; this travel may include transporting students/clients.
  • ACCESS drivers are required to maintain a valid Driver’s License, current auto liability insurance and registration, a clean driving record, and physical ability to drive to local locations throughout Arkansas.
