Job Description

Job Description
Salary: $85,000 - $110,000 per year

Founded in 1999, Access Laser is a leader in designing and manufacturing high-end CO2 lasers. We are a rapidly growing company, experiencing double-digit revenue growth in recent years. We provide leading-edge gas-discharge-excited laser technologies to global industries in the medical, semiconductor, electronic, manufacturing, and scientific development R&D markets. We focus on creative designs that match our customers’ applications and solve difficult problems with innovative solutions. We strive to provide a challenging and supportive environment where team members are encouraged to go beyond ordinary thinking and challenge the normal with the truly ingenious. Our team is our greatest asset and supporting their career development is the greatest investment we can make in our future.

In October 2017 we became a member of the TRUMPF Group, the world’s largest manufacturer of lasers and laser systems. Although we have retained the agility and flexibility of a small company, both our business and our employees now have access to new opportunities for growth.

We are seeking a Continuous Improvement Engineer to focus on our Supply Chain with the main goal of ensuring excellent quality of parts delivered by our suppliers, in order to minimize and prevent disturbances in our production caused by supplier parts.

Responsibilities:

  • Collect, analyze, and evaluate data of quality issues impacting our warehouse and or production caused by our supply chain. Establish supply chain quality related metrics and KPI’s, design monitoring dashboards and monitor the quality performance of all suppliers.
  • Address individual and structural quality issues to suppliers and stay in regular communication until problems are structurally solved. Involve all necessary stakeholders from within the company as needed. Close the feedback-loop within the company and towards suppliers.
  • Conduct frequent visits to key suppliers. Plan and lead supplier quality audits. Act as a sparring partner of our suppliers to allow suppliers to inform about challenges proactively.
  • Work with Design Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering to identify CTQ features, tolerances and manufacturing processes and help to ensure that suppliers fully understand and can fulfil requirements of relevant parts and features.
  • Engage with Suppliers and internal Design Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering to ensure manufacturability and define product qualification strategies. Ensure early involvement of suppliers in D&E projects and changes that require changes in manufacturing.
  • Define, establish and maintain supplier interface processes such as structural problem solving, direct collaboration with suppliers in our non-conforming product process, configuration and change management. This includes documentation and training of processes.
  • Drive internal supply chain related QMS improvements as well as suppliers’ QMS. Support suppliers establishing and performing quality methods and processes such as pFMEA and SPC.
  • Use quality metrics and methodologies, including Root Cause Analysis, FMEA, pFMEA’s, 8D Problem Solving, and Six Sigma Tools, to recommend, plan and lead corrective and preventive actions in response to quality events.

What you bring:

  • BS in relevant fields (Industrial Engineering, Quality Engineering, Systems Engineering, Materials Science & Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering etc.)
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in high tech industry with complex modules or assemblies with a focus on supplier quality management and a broad technical knowledge. Experience in creating process flows, written documentation and training material.
  • Strong working knowledge of using quality metrics and methodologies, including Root Cause Analysis, FMEA, pFMEA’s, 8D Problem Resolution, and Six Sigma Tools as well as the application of statistical process control.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and engineering documentation including nominal dimensions, tolerances, and critical features.
  • Ability to read, interpret and assess internal compliance and conformance of various production departments and personnel with procedures, processes, and work instructions.
  • Experience leading Kaizens or other process improvement teams.
  • Strong technical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Skilled in interfacing with multiple stakeholders and balancing multiple stakeholders’ requirements and constraints.
  • Ability and willingness to work in collaborative team environment.
  • Self-driven and organized.
  • Willingness to travel both domestically and internationally. Approximately 10-15% of the time would involve travel.

Added advantage:

  • Project management experience and leadership skills
  • Experience performing Design Reviews.
  • A relevant accredited certification or degree, such as from ASQ or a Six Sigma Green/Black Belt.
  • Competency in Power BI
