Summary 

This position is open for a Scientist level position in the AAHI RNA Vaccine Program, with title depending on experience. This person will be responsible for broadening the applications of AAHI’s RNA vaccine platform to a wide range of infectious disease and oncology targets. The position will lead a growing, multi-level, early development team to create novel vaccine constructs, design and interpret pre-clinical studies of vaccine candidates, and work with a broad group of scientists and staff to bring RNA vaccine candidates to the initiation of Phase 1 clinical studies. This position will also work closely with the science leads and project managers to evaluate, prioritize, track, manage and communicate internally and externally on critical new strategic vaccine efforts. 

• Plan major vaccine immunology studies, coordinating with a well-tuned interdisciplinary team of research staff. 
• Help develop immunological assays specific to projects. 
• Work closely with regulatory teams to ensure effective IND-enabling data collection, IND preparation, and submission. 
• Participate in strategic planning and business development. 
• Record and present data in-house, externally, and for publication. 
• Coordinate teams to run multiple concurrent activities on major study timepoints. 
• Record and present data internally, externally, and for publication.
• Communicate in a timely manner all data relevant to the organization’s projects and objectives.
• Support QC and GMP tech transfer. 
• Aid in supervision and support of AAHI’s Research Assistants and Research Associates.
• Prepare and review patent and IND documentation.
• Assist or lead preparation and submission of grants for independent and/or institutional funding.

• PhD in microbiology, virology, immunology, molecular biology, biological engineering, or related discipline. 
• At least 5 years’ experience working in the development of vaccines for infectious diseases with increasing levels of scientific independence. 
• Experience managing large or complex scientific projects. 
• Understands the design, development, and execution of pre-clinical and clinical research programs and studies.
• Highly developed organizational skills and ability to work with close attention to detail.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and clinical site personnel. Foreign language skills a plus.
• Ability to take initiative and prioritize tasks; good time-management, problem-prevention, and problem-solving skills. Flexibility in performing multiple tasks.
• Accurately maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
• Professionally work with co-workers and outside agencies professionally and tactfully.
