Job Description:
This role requires extensive knowledge of probate law, estate planning, and related legal areas. The attorney will work closely with executors, beneficiaries, and family members to ensure a smooth and legally compliant probate process.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Estate Administration:
- Advise clients on the probate process and legal requirements.
- Prepare and file probate documents with the court.
- Represent clients in probate court proceedings.
- Manage the collection and distribution of estate assets.
- Resolve any disputes or claims against the estate.
2. Estate Planning:
- Draft wills, trusts, and other estate planning documents.
- Provide advice on minimizing estate taxes and legal risks.
- Update and revise estate plans as needed.
3. Client Consultation:
- Meet with clients to discuss their needs and goals.
- Explain legal concepts in a clear and accessible manner.
- Offer compassionate support to clients dealing with the loss of a loved one.
4. Legal Research and Compliance:
- Stay current with changes in probate and estate laws.
- Conduct legal research to support client cases.
- Ensure all legal procedures are followed accurately and efficiently.
5. Dispute Resolution:
- Mediate conflicts among beneficiaries and heirs.
- Litigate contested wills and probate issues.
- Negotiate settlements to resolve probate disputes.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Active Missouri bar membership and good standing.
- 5 years experience in probate law, estate planning, and trust administration.
- Strong analytical, research, and writing skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- High level of empathy and professionalism in dealing with clients.
