Job Title: Senior SUE Technician
Work Location: Atlanta, GA ***
Salary: Based on experience and will be discussed with manager in interviewDuties/Responsibilities:
Lead and manage SUE projects from initiation to completion, including coordinating field activities, managing project timelines, and ensuring adherence to project specifications
Responsible for obtaining information and direction from office staff and working in the field to locate underground utilities utilizing a variety of methods
Ensure the accuracy of field work, perform field calculations, operate and maintain equipment, make proper field notes and sketches, ensure the proper maintenance of crew vehicles, adhere to all applicable safety procedures and other duties as necessary to complete complex utility locating projects
Perform utility surveys using designating equipment
Prepare complete and accurate utility sketches of the area surveyed for office use
Perform field investigations to identify all utilities located within the survey area
Work as part of a field crew efficiently and accurately
Interface with office staff to clearly convey information and assist with quality control
Must be detail oriented and document all locating procedures and results
Meet specified schedules and budgets
Manage time effectively, organize, and work on multiple projects simultaneously in order to meet project deadlines and client needs
Coordinate with supervisor to ensure client-specific demands are being met both in the office and in the field
Education/Experience:
Highschool diploma or GED equivalent
3-5 years SUE utility designating experience (preferably GDOT)
Ability to read and understand topographic maps and various types of utility records.
Proficient with the use of computers, including MS Excel and Word.
Experience with CAD drafting is a plus but not required.
Comprehensive understanding of utility systems and designs
Willingness to travel out of town as required and flexibility to work overtime when needed
Must have a valid driver’s license with satisfactory driving record and willingness to travel to project sites as needed
Proficient in the use of SUE software and surveying equipment
Physical Requirements:
Physically mobile in and around construction sites and field assignments
Ability to carry required instruments and equipment
Ability to lift 50 pounds
Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
