APPLE CREEK MANUFACTURER IS LOOKING FOR A SKILLED AND EXPERIENCED MACHINE MAINTENANCE TECH TO JOIN THEIR TEAM ON 1ST SHIFT! THIS IS AN IMEDIATE NEED!

SHIFT: 1st (6:45a-3:15p) OR (5a-3:30p)

PAY: $25-30/hr. based on experience

Position Overview:

This position will require strong technical and mechanical experience across a broad variety of equipment types with broadly varying levels of technology. This is not only a hands on position but a position that will draw on the Lead’s experiences with process improvements and alternative technological solutions to current problems in production. Investigations into eliminating long standing production interruptions due to equipment failures and current equipment limitations. The lead will work in tandem with the technical support leader in collaboration to maintain the day to day equipment requirements and support the workload for the operations team. Additionally an eye for process improvements will be critical. A “fresh eyes” approach to the work environment is greatly desired. This individual will additionally work with the Engineering Manager and Facilities manager to gain insight and absorb the historical knowledge of the anatomy of the various types of equipment, their overall repair history, and critical wear items for each type of equipment and tooling. The Lead will also work with the Plant Quality Manager in efforts to make permanent improvements to current practices that do not reflect the best practices that can be achieved for the Apple Creek Plant for PPG. This position is an evolving knowledge and responsibility job. Additional authority will be provided over the course of time and in accordance with the comfort and capability levels exhibited by the Lead. The initial priorities for this role are:
1.Keep production moving. (Setups, change overs, and preventive maintenance.)
2.Learn the setups and change overs for all current equipment.
3.Identify process improvements and opportunities.
4.Identify failure modes and document methods of correction where this is missing.
5.Become familiar with the facilities supporting equipment such as air compressor, RTO,supply lines.
6.Parts inventory and cataloging.
7.Trouble shooting and repairs to extrusion equipment.
8.Willingness to accept direct reports as the needs are identified and give direction to work priorities in cooperation with the Operations team

A list of initial duties but not completely limited to:
• Perform all set-up steps to load, operate and tear down a rotary cutting machine
• Perform all changeover process steps to load, operate, and tear down a rotary cutting machine
• Select correct mandrel size based upon job/work order, inspecting mandrel for obvious damage due to stress or other factors
• Adjust set screws, and power blade settings if necessary, spacing circular cutting blades to specification based on job/work order
• Start machine to test adjustments and examine test pieces for defects such as burs, correct cut angle and depth, and readjusting as needed
• Install and adjust feed mechanisms, guide rollers, tracks, machine fittings, and attachments, according to job/work order
• Sharpen machine punches and blades, and disassembles machines, replacing worn or defective parts
• Maintain equipment in proper working order. Perform regular scheduled preventative maintenance as required.
• Meet quality and efficiency standards
• Manages one's time to reduce machine down time during change-over, equipment and process adjustments
• Perform required tasks and assignments with a focus on Safety, Quality, and Delivery
• Participate in team dynamics, aiding others as needed, seek help as needed
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment,and promote safety with others. Other Job Functions

• Participate in continuous improvement efforts Skills/Qualifications
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Mechanical or Electrical Journeyman role with at least 5 continuous years of successful experience. (This is critical)
• Ability to work as a team member and assist others; contributing knowledge, skills, time and effort
• Ability to persevere, be patient, and diligent toward completing the job assignment, and detail oriented
• Easily adaptable and willing to learn, able to remember basic process steps to ensure accuracy and quality while making approve adjustments as needed
• Basic understanding of mechanical equipment and mechanisms
• Ability to watch, listen, and learn.
