Job Title: Vactor Truck Operator (Lift Station, Sewer Line, and Storm Drain Cleaning)

Reports to: Commercial Division Manager

Job Summary:

The Vactor Truck Operator is responsible for operating specialized equipment to clean and maintain lift stations, sewer lines, and storm drains. This role involves using high-pressure jetting and vacuum systems to remove blockages, debris, and other materials to ensure the efficient flow of wastewater and stormwater systems. The operator must adhere to safety and environmental standards while providing high-quality service to ACE Septic & Waste clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate vactor trucks equipped with high-pressure jetting and vacuum systems to clean and maintain lift stations, sewer lines, and storm drains.
  • Perform routine maintenance and inspection of vector truck equipment to ensure proper functioning and safety.
  • Safely operate and maneuver the vector truck in various environments, including confined spaces and urban areas.
  • Use appropriate techniques to remove blockages, debris, sediment, and sludge from sewer lines and stormwater systems.
  • Respond to emergency service calls to address sewer backups, overflows, or storm drain blockages.
  • Collaborate with other team members to document services, complete job reports, and communicate project updates to clients.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols, environmental regulations, and company policies while working on job sites.
  • Perform routine inspections and minor repairs on equipment as needed to prevent downtime.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the vector truck and associated tools.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training in wastewater systems is a plus.
  • Experience operating vector trucks or similar heavy equipment (preferred).
  • Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a clean driving record with tanker endorsement.
  • Strong understanding of sewer and stormwater systems and related equipment.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in the field.
  • Familiarity with safety practices in wastewater and stormwater maintenance operations.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Proficient in the operation of vactor trucks and high-pressure jetting equipment.
  • Knowledge of wastewater and stormwater systems, including lift stations, sewer lines, and storm drains.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills for on-the-job repairs.
  • Effective communication skills to interact with clients, team members, and supervisors.
  • Ability to read and interpret maps, schematics, and work orders.
  • Basic computer skills for logging work orders and generating reports.

Working Conditions:

  • This position requires working in outdoor environments with exposure to varying weather conditions and potential hazards.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces, around wastewater, and with potentially hazardous materials.
  • Must be available for on-call duties and emergency response outside regular working hours.
  • Physical demands include heavy lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.

Compensation:

  • Competitive hourly wage based on experience and qualifications.
