PositionOverview

CoreResponsibilities

StudentAchievement and Success

  • Ensure high academicstandards are set for and met by all students.
  • Develop and execute arigorous standards-based curriculum.
  • Differentiate curriculum,instruction, and individualized learning plans to meet individual studentneeds.
  • Use student performancedata derived from teacher-created and standardized assessments to driveinstructional decision-making.

 

Commitmentto School and Classroom Culture:

  • Create a classroomenvironment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity andinterest of the students.
  • Develop positiverelationships with students.
  • Develop classroom rulesfor behavior that are consistent with the school wide rules and Acero SchoolsStudent Code of Conduct.
  • Develop positiverelationships with parents for the purpose of creating a support for studentsand their education program; execute assigned home visits to facilitate thisprocess.
  • Assist in promoting theparticipation of students, parents, and other members of the staff in AceroSchools-initiated activities.

Professionalismand Leadership:

  • Collaborate withAssistant Principal to develop and execute Professional Growth Plan.
  • Engage in self-initiatedfocused, reflective work (action research, critical collaboration, case study,or learning log).
  • Clearly and accuratelycommunicate with administration, colleagues, students, parents, and largeracademic communityto improve academic outcomes for all students.
  • Exhibit personalresponsibility for daily work and attendance, personal appearance, studentlearning, and school success.
  • Demonstrate collegialbehavior and make professional development contributions to the schoolcommunity.

 

RequiredQualifications:

Experience:

  • Candidate must be able todemonstrate the academic progress of students under his/her leadership andarticulate the methods used to achieve those results

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree(required)

Certificates:

  • Must possess validIllinois Professional Educator License (PEL) or equivalent (preferred)
  • Must possess valid K-9 Self-Contained Endorsement or equivalent (preferred)
  • Must hold permanentresidency in the United States (required)

PhysicalDemands

Natureof work requires an ability to operate standard business office equipment. Requiresability to communicate and exchange information, collect, compile and preparework documents, set-up and maintain work files. Physical demands require theability to stand, bend, reach high and low, stoop, and walk around theclassroom 60% of the day. In addition, walking up and down stairs several timesa day. Must be able to lift 15 to 20 pounds for short periods of time and pushand pull 15 to 20 lbs. 

 

WorkingConditions

Majorityof work is performed in a general office environment. Position requiresavailability for extended hours plus non-traditional hours required to performjob duties. Also requires participation and attendance atorganization-sponsored events and meetings.
