Founded in 1958, Ackenheil Engineers, Inc. is a Pittsburgh, PA based consulting engineering firm providing services in geotechnical and civil engineering; construction inspection; and field and laboratory testing of soil, rock, concrete, and asphalt.

Ackenheil is seeking Construction Material Testing Technicians. Ideal candidates will have an interest in building a career in the construction observation and/or geotechnical consulting fields.

Responsibilities include:

• Perform field and/or laboratory testing of construction materials (soil, concrete, and asphalt).
• Interpret and follow applicable specifications and standards.
• Provide clear documentation of findings and results.
• Prepare and submit field and/or laboratory testing reports, both written and digital form, with daily transmittal to the Ackenheil Project Manager.
• Regularly communicate with Ackenheil Staff, Clients, and Contractors.

Qualifications:

• High School Graduate or equivalent
• Ability to interpret project plans and specifications
• Ability to write accurate and concise field reports
• Computer skills for typing field and laboratory reports
• Must have valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle (mileage reimbursement) for use on job sites
• Physical ability to perform field and laboratory testing (frequently lift up to 50 pounds)
• Ability to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed with additional compensation
• Ability to work outside in all types of weather in a busy construction environment
• Perform all work in a safe and responsible manner
• ACI Concrete Field and Nuclear Gauge Safety (US DOT Hazmat) certifications preferred, but not required

Ackenheil offers compensation based on experience and qualifications, expense reimbursement, and a benefits package.
