Position Overview

As a Facilities Grounds Maintenance Worker, you will be responsible for ensuring the cleanliness, safety, and aesthetic appeal of the grounds surrounding Ackerman Cancer Center and Ackerman Urology practices. This role involves performing a variety of manual labor tasks to maintain and enhance the exterior appearance of the property. You will work closely with the facilities maintenance team to uphold high standards of maintenance and ensure a welcoming environment for patients, employees and guests.

Essential Job Functions

  • Emphasize in-house completion of construction projects, painting, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical work whenever possible; engage external vendors if tasks exceed internal capabilities, ensuring project success.
  • Maintain all ACC and AU facilities to high standards, ensuring they are visually appealing and safe. This includes performing regular cleaning, painting, and repairs as outlined in the facility maintenance schedule.
  • Promptly address any potential risks that may pose a threat to the safety and well-being of patients, employees or visitors, ensuring a secure facilities environment.
  • Perform comprehensive and regular inspections of facility and residential backup generators weekly to ensure operational readiness and emergency preparedness. Conduct quarterly testing of transfer switches to validate smooth power transitions during outages.
  • Uphold meticulous attention to detail in all assigned tasks, ensuring adherence to established standards and specifications for personal duties and those delegated to supervised service providers, to maintain quality and consistency.
  • Support in the organization and management of storage facilities, ensuring efficient utilization of space and easy access to stored items.
  • Aid in the setup and arrangement of new office spaces to facilitate smooth transitions and optimize functionality.
  • Coordinate and implement preparations for weather emergencies at ACC and AU facilities to ensure the safety and readiness of occupants.

Required

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 2 years’ experience with building maintenance responsibilities and construction projects.
  • Experience with maintenance and minor repairs of mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems for homes and industrial facilities.
  • Proficiency with typical household and industrial supplies, equipment and tools.
  • Honesty, integrity, and discretion
  • Good balance, depth-perception and eye-hand coordination
  • Good communications skills: Oral & Written, including record keeping and report generation
  • Strong organizational, prioritization, self-management, and project management skills Good attention to details and completion of work per schedule with minimal supervision.

Preferred

  • Residential and industrial maintenance and construction experience.
  • Certification in electrical, plumbing or maintenance.
  • Ability to read and interpret blue prints and other construction documents, construction submittals and scopes of work; and, technical and repair and instruction manuals

Hours : Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm
