SummaryPine Forest Children's Center (PFCC) has been providing high quality early childhood education for a diverse community of families in the South End of Burlington since 1988. We are seeking a professional level teacher for a full-time teaching position to work on a team of two working in an Infant classroom. The right candidate will have experience working with varying ages (birth to age 5) or a desire to gain experience working with young children as they grow and develop. Pine Forest Children?s Center is dedicated to the growth and development of the Early Childhood Education field, and we encourage a growth mindset in our educators by providing a community of support, paid professional development, and regular planning time.
The ideal candidate will be a motivated, responsible, flexible team player that loves working with young children and will possess strong communication skills. PFCC is a multi-faceted community which values imagination, integrity, curiosity and responsibility in children and adults. We are innovative, yet with a sense of tradition and attention to the natural world. Our curriculum is emergent and play-based, allowing children to guide their own learning. We plan developmentally appropriate activities that are teacher guided and open ended, utilizing large and small groups, reflecting the best research in early childhood education. We believe in connecting children to the communities in our neighborhood and city and strive to find opportunities to partner on projects when possible.
We have an on site Food Program (CACFP) supported by an on site chef and prepared using local foods. This means that all children have access to free nutritious meals three times a day and mealtimes that are filled with conversation and inquiry. This ensures food equity and access for all children and their families. This program builds a strong foundation for lifelong healthy eating habits and helps children to remain satiated in order to meet their first hour and daily needs.

DutiesApplicant will be responsible for supervision of students in their classroom, curriculum planning, classroom management, collaboration with colleagues, and adherence to VT Licensing Regulations and VELS Standards.
  • Assist in the implementation of curricula activities and encourage participation by children.
  • Actively engage in activities; manage cleanliness, maintenance, and availability of classroom materials.
  • Maintain frequent communications with parents through informal discussions and progress reports.
  • Encourage self-help and good hygiene through behavior modeling.
  • Help ensure smooth, daily transition from home to child care center.
  • Follow all center policies and state regulations.
  • Maintain personal professional development plan to ensure continuous quality improvement.
  • Applicant will need to be able to lift 50 lbs, stoop, bend, and lift.
Requirements
  • Some coursework, Associates or Bachelor's in Early Childhood or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of professional child care experience preferred.
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills.
  • An understanding of child development.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Must clear full background check.
