Actalent is Hiring a Controls Technician Near Albany, OR

Description:

This person is going to be apart of the controls team, right now there is a gap over the weekends from a controls perspective. There are shifts running in the off hours and on the weekends. As of now there is no engineering controls support which is causing machines to be down for longer than they need to be because the maintenance/ union workers do not have access to the PLC code and lack electrical / controls experience and need additional support.

This person will be readily available across the plants to "put out fires" a machine could be down, nuisance alarms could be going off, equipment could not be running the way it is supposed to, pressure signals could be reading wrong, this person will be the first call from the union workers. They will have a guide / information and resources to use in these situations, there are SOP's for a lot of the issues that come up so it will be finding that information and then going to physically look and the machine and the code to ID what is wrong. Most of their time, when things are not working smoothly will be troubleshooting why something is not working the way it is supposed to.

When they are not troubleshooting or putting out fires they will have "back log" projects to work on, this person NEEDS to be able to work with little supervision and the team needs to trust that they are working on projects (they will be given these projects, code modification, re programming alarm systems, HMI updates) when they are not in the plant / on the floor. they will spend a lot of time without supervision.

This person will be responsible for troubleshooting and maintaining PLC's on all of industrial control equipment, all machines and systems (outside of 1940's equipment that will eventually be updated to use PLC's) has a PLC attached to it. This person will be called when a machine or system goes down and there is not a visible mechanical error. They will then support the operators / techs in supporting and editing the PLC's, programmable automation controllers, and AC drives. They will also need to support the SCADA systems used for recipe management & data reporting (these systems are set up but may run into issues). Components of a SCADA system are frequently left open to the elements, so they will will want to check to ensure all pieces of equipment are undamaged and attached where they should be. This person will lead efforts to troubleshoot, repair or replace controls and related equipment pertaining to manufacturing machinery and facilities systems.
