A Deputy Prosecuting Attorney I is assigned to the magistrate division, juvenile division, preliminary hearing team. This position is located in the Ada County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, Criminal Division.
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS
The Deputy Prosecuting Attorney I – Child Protection Division - handles and manages cases filed under the Child Protective Act. A Deputy Prosecutor assigned to the Child Protection Division facilitates cases through the court system to ensure the safety of children who have been abused, neglected, or abandoned by their parents or legal guardians. The incumbent works closely with the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare. This position monitors the removal or protective supervision of children until reunification or an appropriate permanent plan is achieved. This position will learn to work independently and make critical decisions affecting child safety, case strategy, negotiation, and trial advocacy.
