What Success Looks Like In This Job

Responsible for all administrative and logistical tasks in service of ensuring the Adams County Government Center executive workplace – including the County Manager, Executive Leadership Team (ELT), and County Manager’s Office (CMO) staff – runs smoothly. Take pride in being the first face most see when they enter the executive suite. Enjoy simple, complex, and at times urgent problem solving, and working with a team. Have a sense of humor!

Examples of Duties for Success

  • Partner with the Board of County Commissioners (BoCC) Operations Associate to assist with managing constituent services.
  • Provide front desk coverage – assist visitors, answer the phone, sort mail.
  • Maintain office security by following safety procedures and controlling access via the reception desk.
  • Handle all requisitions and invoices for the CMO’s office and Board of County Commissioners.
  • Responsible for coordinating the maintenance of office equipment.
  • Input work order requests to facilities.
  • Assist with logistics – catering, IT support, and more – for Board of County Commissioner’s Public Hearings, Study Session Meetings, and other BoCC, CMO, and Adams County events and meetings, as needed.
  • Inventory, order, and maintain office supplies.
  • Coordinate and plan for CMO team meetings, team building events, holidays, and birthdays.
  • Notarize official documents.
  • Provide Administrative Support to the Clerk to the Board in support of Board of County Commissioner’s Public Hearings, Study Session Meetings, and other capacities, as needed.
  • Assist in a variety of department operations; perform special projects and assignments as requested.
  • Recommend improvements in workflow, procedures, and use of equipment and forms.
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as required.

Qualifications for Success

  • With time, become the subject matter expert in the office for administrative and logistical tasks that help the executive suite run smoothly.
  • Digital Skillset: Highly proficient in computer software such as Microsoft Outlook (email and calendar), Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Attention to detail: Ability to pay close attention to detail to ensure the completeness and accuracy of work performed by oneself and/or others.
  • Follow through: Ability to work without close supervision and ensure that work tasks are completed on time and with high quality.
  • Communication: Ability to speak with a variety of audiences in a clear, concise, and organized manner to effectively convey information.
  • Teamwork: Establish, maintain, and foster positive and harmonious working relationships with all team members; work cooperatively with other departments, County officials, and outside agencies.
  • Decision making: Analyze situations carefully and adopt effective courses of action.
  • Relationships: Establish and maintain good working relationships with Adams County colleagues, partners, and the public; handle complaints/problems courteously and tactfully, referring to other departments as necessary; establish, maintain, and foster positive and harmonious relationships with those contacted in the course of work.

More Qualifications for Success

Experience: Three (3) years progressively responsible administrative and secretarial experience at the executive administrative/logistical level.
Education and Training:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • College level course work in Business Administration, Organizational Leadership, or a related field is preferable.
License or Certificate: Certified, or ability to become certified, as a Notary Public in the state of Colorado.
Background Check: Must pass a criminal background check
