Responsibilities:

Project Accounting and Reporting

• Collaborate closely with project managers to ensure timely and accurate accounting and reporting of all job cost information, including project completion percentages, budgets, contracts, adjustments, and billings.
• Record any estimate changes or projected adjustments promptly.
• Prepare monthly job cost and percentage of completion schedules, along with budget variance reports.
• Post Work-In-Progress journal entries to the General Ledger.
• Meet with project management teams weekly to ensure accuracy of project billing.
• Review subcontractor and vendor billings for accuracy and completeness, including all necessary paperwork (lien waivers, certifications, etc.).
• Participate in the bidding process to ensure profitability.

Financial Analysis and General Accounting

• Analyze trial balance for accuracy, completeness, and conformance to standards, and process transactions as needed for month-end analysis.
• Oversee and execute accounting processes, including billing, cash receipts postings, collections, accounts payable, etc., and act as backup during high workload periods.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
• Maintain state registrations, business, and tax licenses.
• Manage the General Ledger, and create and maintain reconciliations of all balance sheet accounts.
• Prepare and distribute an updated 13-week cash flow forecast, and monitor daily cash balance and activity.
• Consistently analyze financial data and present accurate financial reports concisely.

Policy, Procedure, and Audit Compliance

• Implement and ensure adequate documented policies, procedures, and financial systems with sufficient internal controls.
• Prepare for and participate in audits conducted by external parties, including accountants, unions, and the IRS.
• Assist in hiring, training, and structuring a highly professional accounting department.
• Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
• Prepare necessary reports for external parties, including banks, creditors, insurance, and surety companies.

Process Improvement

• Identify and undertake process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in financial operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
• Proficiency with Spectrum preferred, advanced Excel is a must-have
• Understanding of US GAAP
