Requirements:
Candidates must have a Masters in Social Work or related field from an accredited program and the corresponding State of Michigan Licensure (LLMSW, LMSW, TLLP, Ph.D/LP, LLPC, LPC).
One year experience working with adult clients with substance abuse/chemical dependency and / or mental health diagnosis.
Must also be eligible for Qualified Mental Health Professional provisional certification with full certification being obtained within 4 months of accepting the role.
Must demonstrate completion of course work, fieldwork, or job experience which demonstrates competence in individual, family and group substance abuse chemical dependency treatment and mental health.
Must be able to work as part of the DBT team for consultation meetings, groups and on call duties.
Must also be able to work independently.
Must have excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Must have excellent organizational and attention to detail skills in order to track and prepare data accurately and timely.
Must have the ability interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or schedule form. Individual programs may have additional requirements.
Additional requirements include: cultural competency, ability to work effectively with a diverse population, the ability to engage and maintain therapeutic relationships with youth and families in a variety of modes of treatment, the ability to develop collaborative relationships with other unit staff and providers, effective communication skills, and a willingness to be flexible. Candidate must be willing to attend, complete and become certified in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and maintain the fidelity model.
Cannot accept candidates who are on student/work visas, and/or require sponsorship to work in the U.S. at this time.Candidates for the Crisis Therapist position must have the ability to engage adults diagnosed with serious mental illness and/or substance use disorders, their families, and supporters. They must have expertise in helping clients identify their service needs and preferences, helping them build on their individual strengths, resources and support, and navigate the network of services available at The Guidance Center and in the community. They must have an orientation toward providing community outreach services. Candidates must have the ability to provide trauma-informed care and appropriately handle crisis situations. They must be able to use technology competently, demonstrate effective organizational, verbal, and written communication skills, and work independently. Additional requirements include a nonjudgmental approach that reflects cultural competency and sensitivity to the unique needs and diverse experiences of adults with mental illness and/or substance use disorders, their families and providers.
