PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Assist with the implementation of LPAC responsibilities for Bilingual and ESL program compliance in grades Pre-K-12, as assigned. LPAC responsibilities include OLPT testing of ELL students, arrangements and preparation of LPAC meetings, keeping records of LPAC procedures, maintaining documentation for ELLs’ cumulative folders, recording all LPAC-related required information in the web-based student data system (TEAMS/PEIMS), monitor ELLs failures reports and intervention procedures via LPAC decision-making at assigned campus; maintain inventory of all bilingual/ESL instructional support materials provided at assigned campus, and reporting findings and procedures to the Bilingual/ESL Department.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Two (2) years of study in an accredited institution of higher education preferred
  • Valid Texas Paraprofessional educational certificate preferred
  • Proficient in both English and Spanish

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Ability to interpret and follow instructions
  • Ability to relate well with school personnel, parents, and the community
  • Ability to keep well organized reliable records

Experience:

  • Experience working with professional staff and parents

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

Instructional Support

  1. Prepare all necessary reports and documents for required LPAC meetings.
  2. Responsible for transcribing and submitting LPAC minutes LPAC Coordinator within one week following LPAC meeting.
  3. Responsible for keeping Campus LPAC binder documentation according to due dates.
  4. Responsible for PEIMS reporting of English learner students LPAC-related data, and timely submission of PEIMS reports to principal and Bilingual/ESL Department as required.
  5. Responsible for testing ELL students as required for Oral Language Proficiency Test (OLPT) according to due dates throughout the year.
  6. Collaborate with campus administration and Bil/ESL staff to ensure that ELL students are administered TELPAS, as per state requirements (No testing- related responsibilities allowed).
  7. Collaborate with campus LPAC administrator and Bilingual/ESL Department staff to ensure that ELL student STAAR designations is complete and recorded in student cumulative folder and LPAC minutes as stated in LPAC meetings according to due dates.
  8. Responsible for accurate input of ELLs LPAC-related data on PEIMS and consistently monitoring its accuracy.
  9. Responsible for completing ELL Student Follow-Up Forms and reporting former ELL.(Monitor Year 1, and Monitor Year 2) student’s progress to LPAC members.
  10. Monitor ELLs 6/9-weeks grading period failure report.
  11. Ensure LPAC meetings to address ELL students’ failure and intervention plan.
  12. Responsible for maintaining ELL student cumulative folders, including careful monitoring of compliance documents.
  13. Participate in monthly meetings, staff development, and special events as directed by Bilingual/ESL Department.

Other

  1. Perform duties in a professional, ethical, and responsible manner as defined in the Texas Education Agency Code of Ethics for Educators.
  2. Uphold and enforce school rules, administrative regulations, state and local board policy.
  3. Perform other LPAC and Bilingual/ESL Department duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

None (No student monitoring, tutorials, substitute, or other clerical responsibilities allowed)
