Come join the close-knit and collaborative breaking news team at PennLive.com. The team is comprised of energetic and passionate storytellers with a broad range of interests and strengths. As a breaking news reporter, youll work with this staff to build the skills you need for a career in journalism. You will report on a wide range of high-interest topics -- including crime **,** public safety and accountability -- for a team at the heart of our newsroom. Well help you write with clarity, gather high-impact information and advocate for readers.

Qualified candidates should have:

A bachelors degree in journalism or communications or related field required

A minimum of one year in journalism with a proven ability to report and write clear, compelling stories

The ability to work quickly, but with accuracy and good news judgment

Ability to develop sources

Good understanding of using social media for research and to engage readers

Digital storytelling skills and openness to trying new approaches

Relentless curiosity and news judgement

Willingness to work a variety of shifts, including some nights and weekends

This job requires reliable transportation to meet with sources or cover events.
