Job SummaryThe Director of Facilities Management has the overall responsibility for operations and maintenance of the Dallas Hospital & Clinics. The Director will coordinate and direct the department to ensure continuous efficient and economical operations of the hospital’s building and equipment. This role will direct and manage the department staff to assure quality service and promote teamwork. The Director is responsible for the department meeting standards, complying with hospital policy and procedures, managing supplies and equipment. The Facilities Management Director serves as the approved Safety Officer of the facility, and directs Dietary and EVS departments, as well.
Duties And Responsibilities
  • Directs activities of Facilities Management to assure the unfailing productions & provision of using areas & department of proper environment, waste treatment, clinical air & vacuum, fire alarm & fire-fighting systems, electrical distribution & emergency provision of all above regardless of external conditions of supply and distribution.
  • Directs activities of Maintenance to include maintenance of building & equipment in a state of proper repair, preventive maintenance on all equipment & of parking lots and grounds.
  • Inspects completed work for conformance to blueprints, specifications, and standards and identifies areas to reduce maintenance and utility cost through improved operational procedures.
  • Establishes requisitions & control; preventive maintenance program; all record keeping, warranty control; carries out inspections of the facilities to identify and resolve issues.
  • Assures compliance with regulatory requirements including local, State and Federal regulatory agencies, The Joint Commission (TJC), Department of Public Health (DOH), insurance carriers, and others as needed.
  • Maintains external relations including government relations, local, State and Federal regulatory agencies, CMS, TJC, DOH, insurance carriers, and others as needed.
  • Prepares and maintains appropriate documentation to meet regulatory / accreditation requirements.
  • Act as the liaison for all remodeling, renovation and construction projects as it relates to product standards, design standards, scheduling shut-downs and system interruptions, and meets regulation and infection control standards for these projects.
  • Manages and maintains the facility Statement of Conditions.
  • Demonstrates the spirit of the philosophy, mission, and values of the hospital through words and actions and implements them into departmental processes, programs, and the working environment.
  • Applies the principles and values of customer service and continuous quality improvement while performing day to day activities of the position.
  • Maintains and protects confidentiality regarding all aspects of patient care, personnel and strategic issues. Adheres to Confidentiality Policy.
  • Maintains positive working relationships and fosters cooperative work environment. Adheres to the hospital’s compliance program.
  • Displays honesty and mutual respect when communicating with peers and other departments.
  • Follows through on problems that may compromise effective job performance by using appropriate chain of command.
  • Adheres to safety practices and meets requirements of National Patient Safety Goals.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements

Knowledge Skills & Abilities
  • Extensive experience with Microsoft Office Suit.
  • Understands the application of Interim Life Safety Measures (ILSM) and Infection Control Risk Assessments (ICRA).
  • Possesses knowledge of NFPA Fire and Life Safety codes, DOH, OSHA, EPA, TJC, CDC and other health and environmental codes and standards.
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare facility systems and equipment.
  • Team player with a positive personality and strong commitment to employer.
  • Strong organizational, communications and interpersonal skills.
  • Decision making and critical thinking ability.
  • The ability to manage in a diverse environment with a focus on client and customer services.
  • Communicates clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, and establishes and maintains working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
