Long time client seeks a Plant Manager for their Peoria area resin plant.

EXPERIENCE: BS Chemical Engineer or related with 10-30 years of experience with 5 of that being in a Managerial role. They are reasonably open on industry but someone from a process that is relatively close to a Chemical Process. They keys will be someone who can drive a culture change and has experience in PSM, Maintenance and Lean Manufacturing. Looking for a strong leader

DUTIES: This Plant Manager will Managers this 100 person resin plant will 4 managers reporting to this person and will report to the VP. This person will be able to create the template for how the plant will operate with programs related to Process Safety, Lean Manufacturing and Maintenance will. Will drive culture change and getting the plant to buy in on Safety and Lean Manufacturing programs.

SUMMARY

Under the directionof the VP & GM of Specialty Resins, the Plant Manager is responsible for effectively planning, directing, and coordinating all activities of the plant operations. Responsibilities include safety, environmental, quality, production, reliability, utilities and cost control.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Provides the directionand necessary resourcesto establish safetyand environmental performance that meets the goals established for the plant. This includes development of the proper behavior and attitudes to guarantee excellent performance.

Develops and implements plans to reduceenvironmental waste, meet applicable environmental regulations, and handle emergency situations that may occur at the site.

Develops a plant-operating plan that is consistent with and supportsthe business plan.

Determines what company resources are required to successfully implement the plan and worksto get those resources to assist the plant.

Actively supportsthe managers of the productlines at the site location.

Ensures standards for product quality,equipment and operator performance are maintained and that cost-effective technology is used to maximize production.

Develops a capital plan that supportsthe business strategy and improves plant operations. Develops, monitors, and reports on operating costs within functional areas.

Develops employees through training and involvement programs to createa team environment that has decision-making authority throughout the organization.

Identifiesdevelopment opportunities and provides subordinates opportunities to meet their career development plans. Creates bench strength for the plant and for the company.

Acts as a change agent for the business and company. Represents MSR to the external community.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Manages 2-6subordinate managers who supervise atotal of 90-110 employees at the site facility.Is responsible for the overalldirection, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Carriesout supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

MARGINAL JOB FUNCTIONS

The employee is required to directly perform some of the duties of subordinates as needed in their absence.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor of Science degree (B. S.) from four-year college or university with emphasis in chemistry or chemical engineering, production or industrial management or other relatedfield, and a minimum of ten years progressively responsible manufacturing/plant management experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Advancedbusiness degree a plus (MBA).Requires thorough knowledge of manufacturing operations and safety procedures, preferably in a refinery or chemical operation with a 24/7 operating cycle. Strong commitment to maintaining an environmentally sound and safe work environment. Belief that safety is number one. Ability to provide leadership direction, coaching and mentoring to subordinates.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to writereports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Possess outstanding written and verbal communication skills.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometryand trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a varietyof concrete variablesin situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Strong troubleshooting ability under multiple constraints is often required.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Ability to work and manageoperations in a fast pace, changing environment. Ability to effectively lead and motivate subordinate personnel within a team environment. Ability to utilize various computer word processing and spreadsheet software applications. Ability to use various office machines such as computer and keyboard, phone, fax, photo copier, etc.Strong business acumen and understanding of cost drivers is required.

CERTIFICATES/LICENSES/REGISTRATIONS

None required. Professional Engineering licensea plus, ISO and Six Sigma or LEAN traininga plus.
