Advanced Vehicle Assemblies, LLC is Hiring a Manufacturing Engineer Near Roseville, MI

Advanced Vehicle Assemblies (AVA) HQ is based in Rochester Hills, MI and supports North American HQ and plants in Roseville, and Milan, MI and Monterrey, MX.

AVA is looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to perform a variety of routine engineering related functions in support of the manufacturing facility, including but not limited to continuous improvement and cost reduction activities with a focus on product quality and customer specific requirements.

The position is based in Roseville, MI.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Evaluate manufacturing process capability based on customer specific requirements, quality acceptance criteria including APQP, and performance metrics such as efficiency, effectiveness, line speed, and throughput.
  • Work with plant supervision, manufacturing, maintenance, and tooling associates to optimize facility layouts, production lines, machine operations, material flow, and process performance.
  • Provide manufacturing decision-making information by evaluating production, labor, and material costs, and determining equipment and process capacity based on review of production schedules and estimated future requirements.
  • Assess product design drawings, GD&T designations, process and performance standards, and product fit and function requirements.
  • Interfaces with Corporate functions on a regular basis (Systems Engineer, Quality Engineer, Project Engineer, Purchasing, and Account Executive).
  • Lead role in resolving assembly related concerns. Lead variability reduction and lean manufacturing initiatives and best practices
  • Ensure compliance to Plant, Corporate, Governmental and Environmental standards

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Proficient with Microsoft® applications, AutoCAD, Solidworks and PLEX
  • Experience in one of more of the following technologies: Roll Forming, Stamping, Stretch Bending, Heat Treatment, Spot Welding, Laser Cutting, Automated Assembly.
  • Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, DOEs FMEA, PPAP experience
  • 8D and 5Why corrective action and problem-solving skills
  • Lean Tools – 5S, Kanban, Poka-yoke, and Value Stream Mapping
  • Adept at critical thinking with attention to detail for resolving complex issues such as troubleshooting, problem-solving, and root-cause analysis.
  • Ability to analyze failure modes, develop corrective actions, and implement process improvements.
  • Project planning and management capability, including determining resource requirements and allocation.
  • Commitment to quality, and familiarity with safety, environmental, MIOSHA and governmental standards.

STANDARD QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor of Science degree with background in Mechanical Engineering preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience
  • Automotive Manufacturing Engineering experience as a Process Engineer preferred (3 years)
