Commercial Vehicle Inspector

Part-time / Contractor

Looking for a qualified vehicle inspector to conduct vehicle inspections of new and used heavy duty equipment, cars, trucks, vans, SUVs, construction equipment, and recreation equipment within a designated geographical area. The inspector would be responsible for performing quality, thorough inspections in the field for off-lease, company, and fleet return vehicles.

Primary Skills:

1. Perform timely and efficient vehicle inspections at auction locations, dealerships, and customer site locations. Inspectors would be responsible for total quality and thoroughness of their inspection.

2. Possess excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to listen and respond effectively to customer concerns. Foster good relationships with lessees, dealer principals, and auction personnel.

3. Thoroughly document and record specific details regarding vehicle’s condition including: damage, scratches, dents, nicks, cleanliness, engine condition/mechanics, interior condition etc.

4. Ability to identify engine damage on diesel/gas engines, physical damage, previous repair, frame damage, hail damage or flood damage and explain the results of the inspection within the report.

5. Possess a computer/smart phone (with internet access), digital camera, and tire depth gauge. Responsible for inputting and uploading inspection results into management system upon completion of jobs. Timeliness is critical as vehicle sales are pending!

6. Must have good communication skills and be able to take direction. Must be meticulous and “attention to detail” focused. Accuracy is critical!

Experience:

Mechanical knowledge of diesel engine commercial vehicles is a plus. Previous inspections experience in any other areas (home, auto, structural, mechanical/electrical) is also a plus. General knowledge of cars/trucks/commercial equipment is preferred and recommended.
