Development Project Accountant

A hugely successful Manhattan vertically integrated real estate development and asset management firm is seeking a Development Project Accountant to handle the accounting and reporting for several large development projects. The company offers a very collaborative and stable work environment, as well as comprehensive benefits and perks. In the office Monday – Thursday, remote on Friday.

Responsibilities:

• Process, track, and submit construction draw requests for multiple projects.
• Reconcile general ledger accounts and subsidiary ledgers.
• Manage project budgets and anticipated cost reports.
• Prepare and maintain cash flow for assigned projects.
• Maintain accurate monthly job cost reports.
• Process and distribute payments to general contractors.
• Prepare monthly and year end closing and associated workpapers.
• Assist with preparation of GAAP basis financial statements.
• Process corporate accounts payable invoices and review for proper coding.
• Assist with year-end audit.

Experience/ Requirements:

• 3 years of relevant experience at a reputable real estate company handling real estate development and construction projects.
• Preparation of construction draws and bank requisitions.
• Understanding of the month-end and year-end closing process.
• Knowledge of GAAP reporting.
• Strong and effective communicator.
• Highly organized.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Working knowledge of Yardi, Timberline or comparable software is a plus.

Compensation: $100,000 - 130,000 plus bonus, 401K match and comprehensive health benefits.
