OFFERING A $2500 SIGN-ON BONUS PAYABLE IN TWO INSTALLMENTS - 50% AFTER 90 DAYS - 50% AFTER ONE YEARMajor Responsibilities
  • Performance of evaluations and treatment in a thorough and timely manner in accordance with established departmental and professional standards and procedures resulting in clinically accurate Physical Therapy diagnoses.
    • Evaluation: reviews pertinent medical history information; selects appropriate diagnostic tests; interprets the results.
    • Implementation of Physical Therapy Treatment: functional, measurable realistic goal development; revises and upgrades goals; uses appropriate intervention techniques per disability, illness, or developmental need; develops discharge plan with rehabilitation team.
    • Provides education and guidance to patients and families regarding their physical disorder, current treatment programs, prognosis, and treatment plan. Provides education for use of specific equipment as appropriate for in hospital or home program.
    • Provides adequate guidance and direction for Rehabilitation Aides.
  • Documentation follows guidelines set forth by Accrediting Organization, APTA, Managed Care and Rehab Services Policy and Procedure.
    • Evaluation, treatment and discharge documentation is complete, accurate, concise, and legible.
    • Inpatient billing is accurately entered and audited on the same day as service.
    • Primary managed care therapy coverage and benefits are monitored.
    • Productivity documentation is accurate, complete and perform on the same day as service.
  • Professional development and assistance with clinical education programs.
    • Performs as a clinical instructor as needed.
    • Provide at least one department in-service per year
    • Mentors new clinical associates.
    • Is a preceptor for core competencies as needed.
    • Attends in-services within the department as well as outside conferences.
  • Participation in CQI programs and /or hospital/system committees, task forces, etc. Stays abreast of clinical and operational developments Assumes responsibility for hospital or system project or committee supporting established goals and objectives as needed.
    • Participates in development of treatment protocols, clinical polices, procedures and clinical competencies.
    • Participates in department clinical and service process improvement initiatives.
    • Actively participates in discussions to improve department processes or to develop new clinical programs Provides data and/or input required for quality assurance indicators
    • Provides a safe work environment and follows infection control policy and procedure.
  • Maintain efficiency of treatment by coordinating activities with other Rehabilitation Service personnel, nursing, medical staff, and other ancillary departments.
    • Represents the Rehabilitation Service's Department at patient care conferences if assigned.
  • Promotion of Physical therapy to internal rehabilitation associates, other departments and the community.
  • If assigned to the Fitness Center, duties also include activities which support programming and other services available at that site.
  • Other duties as assigned: therapists assigned to inpatient stroke units receive an initial two (2) hours of stroke education and one (1) hour of annual education.
Licensure
  • Physical Therapist
Education/Experience Required
  • Masters/Doctorate or Bachelors Degree in Physical Therapy if prior to 2002 2 years experience
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required
  • License to practice in Illinois or eligibility as a Physical Therapist. CPR certified
Physicial Requirements And Working Conditions
  • May be exposed to hazardous materials and life-threatening diseases.
  • Direct contact with body fluids
  • Pushing, pulling, lifting, transferring patients. Ability to perform heavy lifting (lifting 50 to 100 pounds occasionally and/or 25 to 50 pounds frequently and/or 10 to 20 pounds constantly.)
  • Services provided on weekends and holidays and during early evening hours This position will need to recognize needs and behaviors of a variety of age groups of patients treated. Prior experience with various age groups is required. Evidence of this can be shown by recognizing levels of development and modifying approach and exhibiting communication skills necessary to interpret age or developmental specific responses.

  • This requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 08/01/2014. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
