Advocate Aurora is Hiring a Practice Manager Orthopedic Surgery and Sports Medicine Near Chicago, IL

Major Responsibilities:
  • Oversees and ensures efficient multidepartment/site orthopedic and sports medicine operations, ensuring a high level of productivity, providing operational direction, assigning and monitoring work and managing the team member resources. Continually monitors the functioning of the department(s), resolves problems, and modifies operations as needed to achieve KRA/goal success.
  • Design and organize the path for patients within the system, assuring timely patient care, and develop and monitor systems for obtaining information critical to effective patient care.
  • Partners with other departments and leaders to evaluate and ensure quality patient care using standards of practice and patient outcomes; ensures the use of quality indicators to include peer review, incident reports, and the use of policy and procedures. Ensures appropriate resources are available for performance improvement initiatives and resolves any patient concerns, complaints and/or problems.
  • Establishes and maintains effective communication and working relationships with physicians and advanced practice professionals. Responsible for provider relations including call/coverage schedules, management of Orthopedic Residency rotation, reading of tests, quality issues, follow up support, and problem resolution.
  • Partners with marketing, public relations, and referral development/business development teams on developing and implementing opportunities to improve market outreach and growth – i.e. promoting new programs, new providers
  • Performs human resources responsibilities for staff which include interviewing and selection of new employees, promotions, staff development, compensation changes, resolution of employee concerns, corrective actions, terminations, and overall employee morale. Evaluates the quality of patient care provided by all personnel through direct observation, staff adherence to policies, procedures, standards of practice, and through peer input.
  • Collaborates with site and system orthopedic and sports medicine leadership on strategic programming and expansion of the service line, e.g. multidisciplinary clinics, partnerships with other destination programs, vendor relations, and management.
  • Develops and recommends operating and capital budgets and controls expenditures within approved budget objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory governing bodies, and collaborates on the quality measures for all programs and maintains department performance improvement data.
  • Responsible for understanding and adhering to the Advocate Aurora Health Code of Ethical Conduct and for ensuring that personal actions, and the actions of employees supervised, comply with the policies, regulations and laws applicable to Advocate Aurora Health's business.
Education/Experience Required:
  • Education Required: Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Health Care Administration or related field or equivalent education and experience Experience Required: 3-5 years of clinical experience and/or experience in healthcare administration. Includes 1 year of supervisory experience in managing staff and budgets.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, decision-making and problem solving skills. Must be able to communicate effectively with physicians, patients and other staff members. Self-management skills which enable results in a competitive and mature market Demonstrated management and leadership skills in a specialized professional field Mentoring/coaching skills Basic skill in the use of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Power Point)

Physicial Requirements and Working Conditions:
  • Proven team leader who is able to get required/expected results. Comfortable and effective working with clinical staff and physicians/residents. Effective communicator to patient/family and community teaching and outreach. Ability to work under stressful conditions and in difficult situations. Able to handle multiple tasks and duties at the same time. Demonstrated flexibility in unexpected situations. Ability to communicate and negotiate during conflict. Strong interpersonal skills.
  • • This position requires travel, therefore, will be exposed to weather and road conditions. • Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job. • Exposed to a normal office environment. • Work environment contains potential for exposure to blood and body fluids or other unpleasant fumes or hazards; therefore, personal protective equipment must be worn as necessary.
