Advocate Health is Hiring an Associate Director Research Analytics Near Allenton, WI

Responsible for directing the Office of Research Analytics and Systems Computing and leads the implementation of the Advocate Aurora Research Institute (AARI) and Advocate Health-Midwest analytics strategy. Responsible for optimizing the research data analytics infrastructure by directing the implementation of new tools and platforms, leading strategies to sustain and enhance our research data warehouse, and heading discussions with regional and enterprise informatics, analytics and reporting leaders and teams, as well as other regional and national partners (e.g., Health Care Systems Research Network, ITM, CAPriCORN). Serves as leader and liaison from enterprise leadership, regional service lines, research scientists and clinician investigators to IT and technical staff, and vice versa; both formally on committees and informally through direct communications. This position oversees teams responsible for research data warehouse development and management, application development, project management, and industry data science and analytics.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leads implementation of research analytics strategy with an emphasis on improving research data infrastructure, tools, processes and outcomes. Plans and directs solution development.
  • Leads team of programmers and analysts with responsibility for developing and sustaining our research data infrastructure; providing data and analytics for leaders, research scientists and clinician investigators; and developing and executing on projects with academic and industry partners. Employs analytical and project management skills to identify and clarify requirements for data needs. Serves as strong advocate and leader to improve analytical capability of teammates, mentoring direct reports and promoting the development of advanced programming and analytic skills.
  • Leads optimization of data analytics platform(s). Facilitates and manages the collaboration between AARI, IT and other areas and technical resources to build necessary research data structures and tools.
  • Works collaboratively with research, administrative, clinical, and medical leadership across the enterprise to identify, evaluate and formulate strategies for data capture that will meet project needs and deliverables.
  • Directs the creation and implementation of educational content on research data infrastructure, available tools and platforms, access processes and more to strengthen the acumen of scientists and leaders relating to the acquisition and interpretation of data from the electronic health record and other data sources.
  • Maintains current knowledge of government regulations, policies, and trends that affect the health care industry, and independently conduct online research to access documents, pertinent regulations, or to access publicly available datasets.
  • Serves as a liaison with regional and enterprise informatics, analytics, and reporting leaders and teams.
  • Performs human resources responsibilities for staff which include interviewing and selection of new teammates, promotions, career development, performance evaluations, compensation changes, resolution of concerns, corrective actions, terminations, and overall engagement.
  • Develops and recommends operating and capital budgets and controls expenditures within approved budget objectives.
  • Responsible for understanding and adhering to the organization's Code of Ethical Conduct and for ensuring that personal actions, and the actions of teammates supervised, comply with the policies, regulations and laws applicable to the organization's business.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Education Required: Bachelor's Degree in Business or Information Technology

Experience Required: Typically requires 10 years of experience in data analytics for health systems, including 5 years of leadership experience in a research role.

Familiarity with healthcare data, clinical research and Epic is ideal.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • Demonstrated leadership skills and abilities, with a record of accomplishment in working effectively with analytics teams, researchers and leaders
  • Expert knowledge of health care data and standards, as well as strong programming background with multiple data science languages and platforms
  • Significant experience in leading informatics teams and managing large research data warehouses and ETL
  • Demonstrated group and project management skills, including significant experience creating and implementing data and analytics infrastructure and support services to facilitate clinical research
  • Fluency in HIPAA data privacy regulations and standards, and the roles of Honest Brokers
  • Experience with the grant funding life cycle and data needs at various stages
  • Proficient with health care data analytics, including physician, hospital and pharmacy data, lab results and electronic medical records
  • Excellent oral and written presentation skills and ability to make effective oral presentations and prepare reports for a variety of audiences, including regional and enterprise executive leaders, research scientists and clinician investigators
  • Capable of independent thinking in terms of considering potential areas for analysis or performance improvement and initiate projects around those areas without direction
  • Ability to effectively manage complex, dynamically changing priorities around the needs of customers and bring a marketing mentality in providing exceptional customer service to network clients
