About the Sioux Falls Stampede:
The Sioux Falls Stampede is a Tier-1 Junior Hockey team that plays in the United States Hockey League (USHL). The Stampede have won several USHL Organization of the Year awards and are 3-time Clark Cup Champions. The Stampede ranks among the top per-game attendance throughout Junior, College, and Semi-Pro Hockey organizations and plays at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center. More than 40 former Stampede players have gone on to skate in the NHL.
Position Summary:
The Director of Communications and Digital Marketing is responsible for managing all social media and digital platforms for the organization, is a primary liaison between the team and local media outlets, creates graphics and highlight videos for in-game use on the video board, as well as digital platforms, and helps develop social media and email campaigns. This individual will oversee all related initiatives through all phases, including planning, production, and measurement.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Manage all Stampede social media networks, such as Facebook, X (Twitter), Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, etc. You represent the voice and personality of the Stampede. You engage, entertain, and inform our fans on everything Stampede. You will bring new and fresh ideas using the latest trends to help keep our social media pages relevant.
  • You are a liaison between our fans and our organization. Our social media pages are a resource for our fans. Social Media is not solely 9-5 and you will be responsible for answering questions in real-time as necessary.
  • Create on-brand graphics using Adobe Creative Suite programs for social media, in-arena video boards, billboards, deliverables, sponsorship proposals, magnetic schedules, pocket schedules, and other digital or print media as requested.
  • You will work with the Director of Game Operations to develop graphics, videos, and other on-brand media for in-game use on the video boards using programs, such as Adobe Photoshop, Premiere Pro, and After Effects.
  • Develop sponsor-able social media campaigns and platforms and assist in the sales process when necessary.
  • Act as a primary liaison between our organization and members of the press, as well as the league and its members. This includes conducting and scheduling interviews and press conferences when necessary.
  • Conduct interviews with players and coaches for social media content
  • Develop and manage editorial content in digital and print form, including press releases, feature stories, pre, and post-game write-ups, images, videos, sales, promotional messages, and weekly and monthly email marketing when necessary
  • Produce and edit Stampede video content, including, but not limited to, in-arena or digital highlight packages, player interviews and features, and promotional commercials
  • Assist with game-day operations, including FloHockey setup, line charts, etc.
  • Opportunity to make outbound sales calls and earn commission.
  • Work effectively with other departments to achieve organizational goals.
  • Perform other tasks and projects as required.
Qualifications
  • You are a self-starter, who is motivated, creative, and willing to meet tight deadlines.
  • You are willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays. This job requires time, flexibility, and willingness to communicate and collaborate throughout our entire organization. This position covers all 62 games throughout the season, including in-person at all home games and remotely for away games.
  • You have experience creating visually appealing graphics using Adobe Creative Suite Programs.
