Aegis Worldwide is Hiring a Quality Inspector Near Harwood, IL

Job Description:We are seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented Quality Inspector to join our team at a machining and assembly manufacturing facility. As a Quality Inspector, you will be responsible for performing inspections and quality checks on machined and assembled components to ensure they meet customer specifications and quality standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of manufacturing processes, precision measurement techniques, and a commitment to maintaining high-quality products.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct visual and dimensional inspections of machined and assembled components using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine).
  • Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to verify product dimensions, tolerances, and surface finishes.
  • Perform first-article inspections (FAI), in-process inspections, and final inspections according to established inspection plans and procedures.
  • Document inspection results, non-conformances, and corrective actions using quality records and ERP/MRP systems.
  • Collaborate with production and engineering teams to resolve quality issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective/preventive actions.
  • Monitor and enforce adherence to quality standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies (ISO 9001, AS9100, etc.).
  • Assist in the calibration and maintenance of inspection equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities to enhance quality processes, reduce waste, and improve efficiency.
  • Communicate effectively with suppliers and customers regarding quality-related matters and participate in supplier quality audits as needed.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certification in quality inspection preferred.
  • Proven experience (X years) as a Quality Inspector in a machining and assembly manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), and inspection procedures.
  • Hands-on experience with precision measuring instruments and inspection equipment (CMM, height gauges, etc.).
  • Knowledge of quality management systems and standards (ISO 9001, AS9100, etc.).
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify discrepancies and non-conformities.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage workload efficiently, and meet deadlines.
