*Position Summary*
The Potency Group within Cell Therapy Analytical Development is responsible for potency assay development and functional characterization for cell therapy products. The Associate Scientist will assist in developing state-of-the-art potency assays that support the company portfolio of preclinical and clinical-stage cell therapies. A basic understanding of the design and development of functional assays is preferred. Knowledge of T cell biology is also preferred. The role calls for close collaboration with potency team members to ensure the development of high-quality functional assays.
*Key Responsibilities*
Assist in the development of fit-for-purpose potency and/or biological characterization assays for both early- or late-stage programs.
Works under minimal supervision for routine activities, such as experimental execution based on established protocols, data review, and analysis.
Organize findings for effective and timely communication of data, draw appropriate conclusions, and design next steps.
Maintain notebooks with detailed and timely documentation of protocols, study designs, and results.
Responsible for setting up in vitro functional assays to measure T cell function.
Makes use of literature and organizational knowledge to solve/troubleshoot basic scientific development-related problems.
*Qualifications & Experience*
B.S. in biological science, immunology, or related discipline with at least 2 years of relevant work experience or M.S. with a minimum of 1 year of relevant work experience in T cell biology
• Direct cell culture experience is required.
• Technical experience with cell-based assay development is preferred.
• Knowledge of cGxP requirements preferred.
• Works predominantly within established procedures but is capable of recognizing potential problems and recommending/developing appropriate solutions.
• Ability to work productively as a member of a team.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working with managers, intra-department teams, and cross-functional teams.
• Requires strong organizational and time management skills to ensure thorough and timely documentation of experiments.
