Located west of Portland on the beautiful Oregon Coast, Aerostar values innovation, teamwork, safety and offers an environment of growth and commitment. Specializing in the testing and maturing of space and aviation technologies, Aerostar has extensive experience providing relevant space like environments for maturing new technologies and testing concepts of operations using high altitude balloons and UAVs. For over 25 years, we’ve been successfully conducting high altitude flight testing services and more recently began operating the Tillamook UAS Test Range, which is an instrumental piece of integrating manned and unmanned aircraft into the NAS. Purpose

Aerostar’s Test Range Manager coordinates and conducts, UAS flight operations. The Test Range Manager is technically proficient in aviation principals and processes, airspace and FAA regulations, avionics, and excels at developing and growing a team of people and their contributions. A strong understanding of flight operations while tracking budgets and expenses is essential to being successful at Aerostar.

The Test Range Manager is the company lead for achieving mission success and meeting flight operation objectives by planning, supervising, scheduling, logistics, quality checks, cost analysis, and profitability operations.

Essential Functions

  • Develop Business Development plans and engage the market to capture new opportunities
  • Develop and maintain project budgets and schedules

  • Forecast and update ongoing project costing and deliveries
  • Develop budgets for capital expenditures with appropriate cost justifications

Work Environment, Safety Commitment, and Travel

This job operates in a professional aviation environment and position diversity varies between office, flight hangar, production floor, flight line, and field operations.

This position requires up to 20% travel with extended work hours in the field with varying weather conditions.

What You Need to Be Successful

  • 3 years of supervisory experience leading and growing a team
  • Working knowledge of civil and public aircraft operations, FAA rules and procedures for UAV operations
  • Experience managing a team to successfully plan, coordinate, and conduct uncrewed flight operations
  • Experience using electronic test equipment and a basic understanding of avionics
  • High level of computer proficiency
  • Proficient in Microsoft in Office including: Word, Excel, E-mail, and web-enabled applications
  • Experience with operational readiness and safety reviews and briefings preferred
  • Knowledge basis of design, manufacturing, and servicing of electronics preferred
  • Background in radio and telemetry systems preferred
