**Job Title: Outside Machinist**

**Job Description**

We are seeking a skilled Outside Machinist who is capable of installing, maintaining, and repairing ship's propulsion and auxiliary systems including, but not limited to Steam, Gas Turbine, and Diesel propulsion systems, rudders and steering gear, elevators, and deck equipment without supervision. The successful candidate will also be skilled in handling the installation, repair, and maintenance of ship's fluid systems such as pumps, compressors, purifiers, heat exchangers, actuators and valves. Additional tasks include testing equipment to ensure systems meet 4E specifications, references and drawings, installing and testing of various shop equipment, and performing other related tasks as assigned.

Installation, repair, and maintenance of ship's propulsion and auxiliary systems

Working with ship's fluid systems

Testing of equipment to ensure system specifications

Working with marine engines, outboard motors and related marine equipment

Preventive maintenance of marine engines and related equipment

Repair and maintenance of hydraulic equipment and valves

Operation of hand and power tools associated with marine engine and equipment repair

**Soft Skills**

Ability to work without supervision

Flexibility for overtime as needed

Capability to establish and maintain a preventive maintenance program

**Job Type**

This is a Contract-to-Hire position with a duration of 90 Day(s).

**Work Site**

This is a fully on-site position in San Diego, California.

**Work Environment**

The work will be carried out at various Shipyards: NASSCO, BAE, CMSD, NBSD. The shift is a 1st shift from 6 am - 2:30 pm. The successful candidate must be flexible for overtime work Monday - Sunday if ever needed. Be prepared to work 10 hour days if needed.
