As an Instrumentation and Controls Project Engineer , you will help us empower our clients to achieve energy-efficient building solutions, save global environments, and create a better, greener future for all.

Responsibilities:

In this role, you will serve as an embedded engineer with a client located in Rockford, IL. Responsibilities include consultation on control systems, hands-on integration, assisting with equipment procurement, attending design meetings, performing field surveys and reviewing documentation of existing systems. You will also be responsible for developing innovative and unique control solutions to align with project, client, and project partners needs which includes:

  • Works collaboratively with the client and project partners to identify project technical requirements and user needs and offers technically sound advice and innovative solutions.
  • Travels to job sites to perform field verifications, startups, and field surveys.
  • Works to establish a positive working relationship with project partners based on competence, trust, and respect.
  • Performs system calculations, and sizing and selection of system components.
  • Reviews the layout of systems and equipment with project team members, project partners, and clients.
  • Understands interpersonal dynamics of working with co-workers, and project partners, and responds appropriately seeking support as needed.
  • Contributes to the development of design budgets and schedules.
  • Anticipates, identifies, and plans design work required to meet project deadlines. Effectively adapts to changing needs and priorities. Raises day-to-day and long-term, budget, and quality issues with the appropriate people (Project Engineers, and Department Facilitator) in a constructive manner.
  • Reviews work for completeness and accuracy.
  • Uses effective written communication skills to prepare meeting notes, create and edit design specifications,
  • Responds to Requests for Information (RFIs) incorporating information from project documents, specifications, shop drawings, and design criteria.
  • Reads relevant project correspondence and maintains proper filing structures.
  • Performs quality review of own work and participates in additional quality efforts as assigned.
  • Participates in the advancement of discipline practices, processes, and tools as assigned. Actively shares lessons learned and suggests continuous improvement initiatives within the Instrumentation and Controls discipline.
Qualifications:

Expertise of our most successful Instrumentation and Controls Project Engineer:

  • BSEE/ME/ChemE or equivalent experience.
  • Strong commitment to service excellence.
  • Strong spoken and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills.
  • Excellent perceptual, conceptual, and interpretive skills.
  • Quick technical comprehension and motivation focused on client outcomes.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Effective working in team environments as well as individually.
  • 4 years of experience specializing in Building, Process, and/or Industrial control design roles.
  • Hands-on PLC programming and user interface development.
  • Common process and industrial mechanical systems and related control instrumentation and equipment, (pumping, flow, valves, pressure, temperature, tanks, batching, blending, etc.).
  • Experience with industrial control networks and communication protocols.
  • Experience with CAD or BIM drafting software such as AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, Plant 3D, Revit.
  • Ability to travel for client meetings, field surveys, commissioning, and startup support.

Effective skills to help you flourish:

  • Experience with robotics, automated guide vehicles, conveyors, tracking or positioning systems.
  • Wonderware and System Platform integration experience.
  • Allen Bradley, National Instruments integration experience.
  • Experience with building automation systems.
  • Experience with mechanical test equipment.
  • Understanding of GAMP and cGMP design practices.
  • Experience with 21 CFR compliance
  • Experience writing and executing User Requirement Specifications and Functional Requirement Specifications.
