Wolfram is Hiring a Systems Administrator Near Champaign, IL
Wolfram, creator of Mathematica, Wolfram Alpha and Wolfram Language, has an exciting opportunity for a Systems Administrator. The company is looking for an energetic, motivated individual with strong interpersonal and communications skills to work on a wide variety of issues while maintaining server infrastructure. Responsibilities
Managing day-to-day tasks, including the documentation of projects
Maintaining, patching, troubleshooting and administrating production Linux/Mac/Windows-based servers running a variety of different software applications
Implementing new technologies to help streamline internal operations
Willingness to work a flexible schedule as necessary, including being on call and after hours
Qualifications
Working knowledge of Linux operating systems with a focus on RHEL-based distributions, such as Rocky Linux, AlmaLinux, Fedora, CentOS Stream, etc.
Strong understanding of networking concepts, technologies and principles
Familiarity with various scripting languages, such as Bash, Python, PowerShell, Perl, etc.
Strong understanding of virtual machine environments and hypervisors
Working knowledge of services that provide directory management, database management and configuration management, such as Active Directory, LDAP and DNS
Excellent problem-solving, critical-thinking and documentation skills
Ability to work well both independently and in a team environment
Preferred qualifications
Three to five years of experience in Systems Administration
Demonstrable ability to build production-focused services
Familiarity with containerization (e.g. Kubernetes)
Awareness of concepts such as NAS, OOBM, MFA, VPN, etc.
Familiarity with enterprise hardware and datacenter environments
Enthusiasm for experimenting with unique projects (e.g. homelab, Raspberry Pi, ESXi, Proxmox, etc.)
