POSITION TITLE: Medical Mobile Van Driver
REPORTS TO: Director of Family Health and Wellness
STATUS / HOURS: Regular/Full-time (Evenings and Weekends as scheduled)
POSITION SUMMARY: Support the mobile health program by serving as a driver for the mobile medical and /or dental unit. Responsibilities also include assisting with the collection of demographic information, registering the patient, and entering necessary information in an electronic database.
Education: High School graduate or equivalent.
Experience
- Two (2) years experience driving a mobile health unit or vehicle comparative in size (38' long).
- Two (2) years experience working with children and /or neighborhood outreach.
- Two (2) years experience in a health care setting or related field.
- Two (2) years experience in customer service.
- Computer skills proficiency in Microsoft Outlook
- Interview patients, complete patient registration forms and enter data accurately.
- Ability to take the initiative is detail oriented, and flexible.
- Good oral and written communication, customer service, and organizational skills.
- Good record keeping skills.
- Ability to safely drive and park 38' long vehicle.
License(s)/Certification(s) required: Driver's License Class E (Commercial Driver's License, Class B preferred); CPR Certification required
Essential Functions
- Coordinate safe, efficient use of the mobile units by driving the mobile units to and from select community locations. Ensure that proper procedures and guidelines are followed for the safe transport of staff each day. Maintain Driver's licensure requirements.
- Maintain excellent vehicle preventative maintenance, both interior and exterior of mobile health unit(s). Maintain daily checklists and maintenance logs. Troubleshoot, document, and report any malfunctions of the mobile unit to the Director of Community Health and Facilities Director.
- Stock mobile health unit(s) with necessary office supplies and medical equipment.
- Assist in developing an emergency plan for patients seen on the mobile health unit; participate in periodic safety drills.
- Obtain and review patient consent forms from each site for documentation into database.
- Review policies and regulations such as HIPAA with the patients as needed.
- Work with team and other driver(s) to maximize the most efficient use of screening time.
- Ensure that patient flow to and from mobile health unit is smooth, coordinated, and efficient.
- Timely delivery of daily reports to school nurses and Director.
- Assist with health screenings to include heights and weight.
- Perform age level appropriate health education segments when appropriate.
- Perform other duties as assigned
