As a PA, you will work collaboratively with physicians and other healthcare professionals to provide exceptional medical care to our nation's veterans. - Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including medical history, physical examinations, and diagnostic tests.
- Formulate and implement evidence-based treatment plans for acute and chronic medical conditions in collaboration with the supervising physician.
- Order and interpret laboratory tests, imaging studies, and other diagnostic procedures as necessary for patient evaluation and management.
- Provide patient education on disease prevention, health maintenance, and medication management.
- Perform minor surgical procedures, such as wound care, incision and drainage, and suture removal, under the guidance of the supervising physician.
- Assist in the management of complex medical cases, including coordination of care with specialists and ancillary services.
- Document patient encounters accurately and comprehensively in the electronic medical record system.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, case conferences, and quality improvement initiatives to optimize patient care outcomes.
- Adhere to all VA policies, procedures, and standards of practice, including compliance with regulatory requirements and professional ethical standards.
- Engage in continuous professional development through participation in continuing education activities, conferences, and professional organizations.
- Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
- Current licensure as a Physician Assistant in any US State.
- Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
- Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience as a Physician Assistant, preferably in primary care or internal medicine.
- Experience working with veterans or in a VA healthcare setting is desirable but not required.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong clinical judgment and critical thinking skills.
- Proficiency in using electronic medical record systems and other healthcare technology.
- Commitment to providing high-quality, patient-centered care with compassion and empathy.
- Ability to obtain and maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
