Key Responsibilities: The Field Technician will collect samples in the field (Plant tissue, soil, and water) and taking those samples to the appropriate location for processing. Perform Irrigation Monitoring Services.
Customer service - including communication with co-workers and clients.
Complete legible and accurate field sheets so they can be processed accurately by the lab.
Collection of plant tissue samples using appropriate sampling methods and sample containers.
Collection of soil samples using an auger or push probe.
Collection of water samples using appropriate water sample bottles
Collect samples in accordance with Dellavalle Laboratory procedures.
Observe and report any unusual field conditions to appropriate project supervisor or consultant.
Inventories and submits requests for supplies applicable to task(s) as needed.
Complete the vehicle checklist weekly to ensure no safety concerns with vehicle and submit to Safety Manager.
Maintain all equipment, sampling tools, vehicles, etc. in good condition.
Additional training may be added specific to the tasks or functions the employee is specifically assigned to.
Attend outside training as necessary.
Completed or able to complete the APNGA Portable Nuclear Gauge Safety & U.S. DOT Hazmat Certification Class as deemed necessary by consultant and/or supervisor.
May assist or cover duties typically performed by other Field Technicians.
Other duties as assigned and qualified for, as determined by management.
Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
Part Time/Seasonal position.

Requirements
Valid CA driver's license with a clean driving record
Ability to drive for 4 hours daily
Ability to lift at least 50 lbs. repeatedly
Ability to follow instructions and work independently
Ability to communicate effectively with clients and supervisors
Must enjoy working outdoors
Must be able to work in a variety of field/weather conditions
Good sense of direction and ability to read maps
Pre-employment drug screen/Background check.
Background in Agriculture preferred.
HOURS: From March through October, routine sampling routes provide 25-30 hours per week (Monday - Thursday mornings). Additional hours are available depending on the season and as weather permits.
