Summary of Job Duties:
• Communicate and interact with multiple clientele, including agriculture professionals, farmers, home gardeners, students, and youth. The specialist will need to have good communication and writing abilities.
• Identify and address challenges and/or needs that the farm and clients have and determine creative ways to address them.
• Reason and analyze potential or available factors and come up with conclusions and/or recommendations. The specialist will demonstrate the ability to evaluate multiple options and choose the one that is most favorable and cost-efficient.
• Demonstrate how to create and maintain an effective schedule, improve on time management, develop professionally, and adapt ideas to unique situations.
• Engage in continuous learning and stay updated on the latest farm technologies and equipment. This will require the willingness to learn new things.
• Have experience in or willing to learn and use a wide range of machinery, technology and software to complete the needed tasks. The successful candidate will be required to use a computer program to store information and create presentations. The specialist will also be expected to learn how to use different farm equipment with modern technologies.
• Any other duties assigned by the immediate supervisor and/or the Dean for SAFHS.
Qualifications:
A Master of Science degree in Agriculture or related field or a Bachelor of Science degree with at least three years of experience in a related field.
